In that area, Lima beans and butter beans are seen as two distinct types of beans. In the United Kingdom, a "butter bean" is a dried bean which can be purchased either to re-hydrate (in the same manner as dried peas) or as canned (tinned) and ready to use. In culinary use, lima beans and butter beans are distinctly different, the former being small and green, the latter large and yellow.

Haha, this guy I used to work with really did try it. No, really he did. Well I guess I can't prove it, it's not like I watched, lol. So of course, after I asked WTF and picked myself up off of the ground, I asked how it was (I mean, who wouldn't? lol) and he said it was okay but really messy.
