Why do you stay in Maryland?

Spent almost my entire childhood in PA - and the one thing - winters are nasty. Especially NE PA.
Well especially western PA but I never lived there.

But - I wouldn't mind it if it wasn't for the cold.
I was going to mention that the weather here is a big factor, but was already long winded enough. 😆

I agree that PA weather isn't my favorite, buts he's intelligent, so I figured he's surely done his research. I'm also fairly sure that winter will be the time he uses those tax savings to get away from the worst of it.

I have a place you can hunt deer and wild turkey. Used to have pheasant, but not for a few years. I'm sure you also have places, but it's open if you like. Not deer season now, but plenty deer in season. I also have a great fishing place that you have seen. Pier is safe and ready. I know you have fishing places too.
Thank you. I gave up hunting when I was still a teen. After a few non-kill shots on squirrels and having them looking at me convinced me I wasn't a hunter.

Now turkey is a different story. I'd love to take that up. As far as fishing from your pier, I still DO want to get over there and give that a try. I've just pretty much had no time to do it yet. I'll stay in touch. Maybe when rockfish season comes back in, I'll stop by after work and give that a try. First one's yours!

Family has been here since 1634. Invaded in larger numbers in 1650 or thereabouts;. Grew up in what was nothing but farms and wilderness in Howard County. Our farm was patented in 1690.

The state is dead to me now. Liberal pond scum have sucked the life out of it.

Family, previous relationship, friendships, commute a job and I like the area. Quite honestly, my family has been a part of the DC/MD area since at least the early 1800s.

But here in the next few years as things start to come together, I intend to head for the hills of West Virginia or Virginia.
The internet doesn't work in WVA.

I read that on the internet.

Late husband's family came here in 1634. Had a big farm (couple hundred acres) in Valley Lee. Most of his family has passed, but my kids kinda grew up there. Think Blake Creek. They owned the Potomac River side too, but sold it DECADES ago.

As they invariably do.

I was stationed in California in the mid-'70s after coming home from overseas, and watched as the blood-sucking leeches migrated seemingly en masse from New York and New Jersey. I blame what California is now on those a*holes.

Having grown up in the Midwest, I dig that we don't have the harshness of winter that other regions have. Nor does it last as long. I'd be okay if summer was 5 weeks long, though

I love the seasons here. I like winter with some snow. (I have been known to make snow angels) but HATE ice storms. Spring wakes me up. Summer is my favorite. Fall here is beautiful but makes me sad summer is leaving. All in all, it's the best anyone could ask for. Keep the hurricanes

Unless you and your significant other enjoy cold and snow.

Navy brought me here 28 years ago. Didn't want my daughters to attend as many schools as I did growing up, so we stayed. However, they have all moved on out of here, so once my wife is able to retire - we are out of here. (I am retirment eligible now, but still work since she still has to).
