I keep seeing kittens for sale or for free. Why is this? Don't people spay or neuter there animals. In the past month i have seen over 20 kittens.

Kitty Ka-Bobs? I know, so wrong, but that's what popped into my head.
Sounds good, have to try it some time. My favorite is to stuff them with crab meat, then wrap in thick slice bacon.

They really piss me off where I live. They think just because they are barn cats they dont have to spay and neuter. Everyone has a pile of kittens various ages and they are all in need of some care, ie, nasty eyes, ear,s bad coats, ect. I dont like to touch them, I dont want to bring anything home to mine who are all healthy. I wash my hands alot.

They are probably inner breeding which isn't good. The cat populations in this area are outrageous! IF you think they could be talked into spay & neuter if it isn't really expensive, there are low cost spay and neuter programs around as well shot clinics.
In Calvert, PAWS volunteers pick up cats and smaller dogs every Weds at the Safeway parking lot in PF at 7:45 and take them to get spayed and neutered. They return pets between 6-6:30 pm. There is grant funding available for low/middle class owners and shots. Testing and microchipping available as well.

I hate that I have run out of room for more kitties, if I had the money I would build a shelter myself and run a no kill shelter. I so hate this time of year. I call it kitten and puppy season. It doesn't matter how much you preach and beg and show statistics there are more sickos out there than there are of us who have the common sense not to breed our animals. I swear every time I read about pitbull puppies for sale in the classifieds just on this website I want to call the owners and and totally let them have it.
I would love it if they would pass a law where you have to have a license to breed your animals and I would like for the license to be ridiculously expensive and those who violate the law must be fined an astronomical amount! People are so damn stupid and ignorant it's sickening!

Ive already found the low cost spay and neuter in my area. I figure I would be needing it since I was looking to add to my family. These people here are worse thann 7th district smibs, they just laugh at you when you mention spay and neuter. These back woods f"ers make me sick.

I wonder the same thing - I've had to pay for many cats to be fixed over the years because I never wanted to adopt out a cat that had not been fixed. Now with gas prices and my sky high electric bill I can't get all the cats fixed anymore before adopting them out. People can get the cats fixed for under $50 in So. MD so I don't understand why they don't do it?
The bigger rescues are filled to the max which is how some cats get fixed before being adopted out, and the small rescues like ours just don't have the money to fix them all.
Speaking of kittens, I rescued 3 kittens from the roadside last night that I hope I can get fixed before they get adopted. If I could just get people to pay me for the vet bill when they adopt a cat I could use that money to get the next cat fixed you know? But when I say $75 to adopt (includes Rabies/deworming/etc) they say they can get a cat free (or they just don't call/call back). Hmmmm. So go figure why free is better than already fixed? Many people just don't know how bad the problem is, and some people know but just don't care.

There was a young couple trying to sell pit puppies in the parking lot of Fastop in Lusby. They had about 10 of them in a small cage in the hot sun.

Not yet - working on it - it costs me $$ for preparing and filing all the legal paperwork, and I am working to get that done now, and paying the fees for a lawyer takes $$ away from the critters unfortunately.
