Yep. Daniel Hodges has two perfectly working eyes. Somebody shoved their thumbs into his eyes - and I've been in fights where this happened, hurts like hell. But he sustained no permanent damage. Like Sicknick being bludgeoned to death with a fire extinguisher and some Trump supporter being "trampled" (when there's video of her being stomped by Capitol police) by the mob - there's a LOT of "truth" that has been MADE UP ---
But it's also been retracted by the outlets that promoted it. The NYT retracted their Sicknick story. A lie can travel around the world before the truth even gets its shoes on.
the only article I could find was about a retired NYPD Detective that was ' attacking ' police with a flag pole ... the article claimed he attempted to gouge out someone's eyes ... not that he was successful

Somebody is probably whispering in his ear that if he ever wants higher office, to leave it alone.
I believe Bragg thought he would get a lot more support by doing this.
He's like the neighborhood braggard kid that makes some bold statement about some physical feat he can perform. Then the other kids dare him to try it. If he backs out, he looks weak. He knows that he has to try it, even though he doesn't want to. And he hems and haws to waste as much time as possible in hopes that the groups' attention gets redirected towards something else.
In most jurisdictions, this sort of stunt would have repercussions. But it's NYC. They like their criminals bond free to walk among them. They enjoy having the local homeless on the streets while the illegal invaders are put up in $400 a night hotel rooms that they get to trash while they complain about the free food they get to eat.
And this is one PR thing that Trump has succeeded with - the charge was venial enough to look like like pitiful, baseless persecution.
Normally, his base is loyal, but when you do something this juvenile, it attracts independents as well. Nothing pisses off American voters more than someone abusing their power.

Sam I would like to agree with you, but then I see Biden enriching his family by abusing his power and the voters put his where he is.
I mean he cheated all right, but still a lot of voters still voted for him.
