Wish Me Luck

I have applied for training thru my office to attend the DAU at Pax for Contracting 100 in November. I REALLY hope my boss' will approve me to take the course. If they don't I will apply for 1 week leave, and then re-submit my application to them. I think that their only objection is that it is not directly applicable to my current position. My spin will be that it will help me to compete for future openings in our management/staff section. Of the 4 classes that I'd need for level 1 certification, only this one is not available online. Once I get certification, I can apply for positions at Pax (and have a chance at possibly getting one).

If you had an IQ of 151 you could get any job on the base.

Oh, and good luck. Hope it works out for you.

Why not go for ACQ lvl 1 vice contracting? You are at an acquisition command? Right?

Hope all goes well for you Huntr. When will you find out if it was approved?
The fact that I have not heard anything to me is encouraging. I was expecting a quick denial. I take this to mean that my request has been passed up the chain of command.

Nope. I make maps. I see a lot of "contract specialist" job postings, so hopefully this will help me get my foot in the door.

My boss took my request to his boss (my ex-boss) who turned down my request. This apparently happened last week. Only reason I found out is because I asked my boss for an update on my request. Gotta love that great level of communication. :sarcasm: I have appealed the decision, and stated my case for why it would be in the best interest of my agency to send me to the class. I doubt I will change their decision, but gotta try if you want to suceed.

Understood! Good luck. The only reason I was suggesting it was that I belive the first DAU course is relatively long... whereas for ACQ LVL1 most is web-based.

You are right in that there are MANY contract specialist jobs out there, not only with the Navy but with all throughout the DoD.

Again, GOOD LUCK!
