Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, I'm sure, but I recall the government requiring a 4-year degree for all contracting and finance/budget positions a couple years ago. There was a big huff about it when I was on active duty that all the active duty and civilian contracting folks who didn't have degrees were gonna have to enroll and complete the degree within a specified time frame (paid by Uncle Sam, of course) or else move into a different career field.
At any rate, good luck getting the decision overturned. At least it's a step in the direction toward acquiring the needed credentias.
