I don't wanna shoot the idea down but, I do not think it proper (not that what we have is) for me to be able to vote for all sorts of spending and then choose to not help pay for it by not spending and, worse, get a 'prebate'.
Then you must not understand what the prebate is.

Could be. I read Tony's link and one I found. It looks like money from the gummint to help offset the cost of the new tax (to help pay the tax).

Basically, the prebate is just to "refund" the cost of the "essentials" you use all the time. But ONLY US Citizens get this - you have to have a SSN.

The thing is that even with the prebate - ALL present programs would be totally funded by the Fair Tax. This is not like getting an income tax refund. YOu are getting a consumption tax refund.
(AND still getting to keep the income you earn.)
