Woman tries to open plane door

Plane was presurized, she could not have opened the door anyway. That being said I find this disturbing.

A flight attendant persuaded the woman to sit back down, but nobody physically restrained her. Parker said the other passengers stayed belted in their seats in case she did manage to open the door.

What a bunch of pussies we have become. Not a soul got up and tried to stop this chic? Female or not I would have clocked her on the mellon and drug her ass back from the door.

Pete, aren't planes pressurized for an equivalent altitude of between 5,000 and 7,000 feet? As such the pressures would have been equalized and the door could have been opened.

Yes good point, they do normally maintain positive pressure in the tube. It doesn't take much to make a inward swinging door unopenable. Sometimes our A/C on the ground would make the door hard to open if the bottom hatch was closed.

still things happen, that is why I would have clocker her in the melon and made her STFD.

I wonder what would have happen if an Air Marshall was on board, if a clean shot could have been taken I wonder if that would be a good shoot situation?

There was an old gag we used to play on NATOPS checkrides where one of us would drop the handle on an overwing exit while we were in the air and pull on it to open the hatch. The hew guys would freak out and start grabbing onto anything they could find as they were sure they were going to get sucked out, but in reality there's no way to open an inward-opening door or hatch once the plane is pressurized.

Oh heck. They were only at 4000 feet. Pressure wasn't an issue. :yikes:

Since when? Aircraft are still pressurized at 1,000 feet. Once the cabin is pressurized, it isn't depressurized until they land and the pilot despressurizes the cabin, or, unless the pilot depressurizes in flight for some reason (or unless there's some accidental depressurization.)

Earlier in the flight, they aired the episode of CSI where a guy panicked and tried to open the plane door mid-flight. The passengers tried to stop the guy, and after the mob-mentality took over they all ended up brutally stomping him to death.

If I remember correctly, most of them walked, but there were a couple called to account.

I really wish I remembered how that one ended...

Anyone?

Oops... my bad. :yay: I figured once they got that low, they went ahead & depressurized during descent (once below 10,000 feet).

That's good to know, but I would still thrash her.

I would say it's a certain someone who's jealous of our relationship, but considering where you are currently "located," it seems unlikely. :duh:
