The whole warranty thing is a sham no matter what. We looked at some development Curtis had when we first moved down here, and basically you bought the home from them, and then they had a builder that was a different LLC that baought the home and warrantied it.
The builder with the best chance of making the Woods work was PF Summers. They had success building in rough terrain in other developments, and really had success. With the Woods they sunk a crap ton of money into site work, and kept getting delayed by people reporting them over every little thing. By the time they were ready to build, the housing market tanked, and stuck it to them. Basically they had a huge development they sank a lot of money into, and now could not sell at the volume or price they expected which led to the company going under. At least that is what I surmise without having any first hand knowlege.
I know this much..I have seen homes from Curtis, QBH, Stanley Martin, and PF Summers, and I would rather have a PF Summers home out of the three. Much nicer and complete design and construction. It was a shame they failed.
