Working while — retired.

My dad “retired” several times - but mostly because he was hugely bored. He needed - something- besides maybe golf - to keep his mind active. He stopped once his employer decided they didn’t need him part-time.

Is anyone here - retired - maybe drawing a pension - but working part-time? How’s that working out?

I have my Union pension and I took my SS at 65, I still work doing Industrial Maintenance. I made my 20 thou the last two years, and took off the rest of the time. I write a list for the week and get it done and then go play. I have a few serious hobbies, that easily can keep me busy.
Next year I will hit my 66 and 8 months so I can earn what I want to, if I want to. It was strange in the beginning, I had to relearn to keep myself busy.
Good Luck

Retired and never looked back. Plenty to keep me occupied.

There are formulas (on the SSA website) that tell you just how much you can earn from another job and still collect SS. Something around $20k comes to mind?

I was looking at those sites - but what might be - fun? Years ago I talked with a guy who just ran a tram from a cruise ship to town and back.

Lots of jobs like that. My brother always talked about getting a job at Disney driving shuttles or some such. You like to talk, so anything with access to the public would suit you.

I wanted to be a Harbor Master, but those jobs, at least where I was looking, are inside-who-you-know jobs. I didn't know anyone important.

Started drawing SS this year and still do my part time job as a Minn Kota Tech. Being the only authorized repair facility in Southern MD, you would think we would stay busier, but it's feast or famine.

I had planned to start a part-time business, like buy a small (not mianture, just small) backhoe and do small landscaping/construction projects. Need someone to dig you a drainage ditch for gas money + beer, i'm you guy.
