I have no idea how our cat got worms, because from what i read they get them from fleas. Its the middle of the winter and they are indoor cats! But anyway, i noticed she had worms last night (think its tape worms since it looked like a piece of rice on her butt hair). So I had to call 5 places to get her an appt today. I asked for a round about price for the appt and fecal test and how much the worming med would be....she told me the price depends on the dose since it goes by weight. Well, I guess we will be :nomoney: since her nickname is "Fat Cat" The lady on the phone didnt think that was too funny

Have you seen them crawl out of her butt yet? That's freaky. I had a dog get them once, I pick up his poo after he goes so this one time I was thinking, "how did he eat rice, I didn't make rice" then I saw the rice wiggle :barf:

i didnt see any in her poo yet, just found one near her butthole, on her butt fur, i thought maybe it was a dingle berry or maybe lint from a vcover or something, till i saw it move! :jameo:

They get them from eating mice, birds and such. You don't really need to spend the money on an appointment. Call your regular vet and tell them her weight. They should be able to just sell you the pill(s). It's a one time dose.

I have numerous feral cats on my property-I know they all had tapeworms-they eat wild things! I went to my local Southern States and picked up a bottle of "tape worm tabs" (Tradewinds)-contains 23 mg. of praziquantel in ea. tab.-followed the directions. The cats look healthier and aren't as ravenous! Easy peasy!

KVF, you may want to at least take a fecal sample to the vet so you know exactly what worm(s) your cat has. Then you can make sure you get a dewormer that will kill those specific worms.

You can buy a bottle of cat dewormer liquid at WalMart.
have u tried it? Does it work? thanks :huggy:
I just want to know why you were looking at Fat Cat's butt.

We were laying on the bed, and her butt was facing me, not in my face, but butt pointed in my direction, i like to terrorize her and play with her tail cause she doesnt like it  Well, i couldnt help but notice the cat dingleberry while i was terrorizing her, and i like my babies to have clean butts, but when i looked at it for a few more seconds pondering if i should go get a baby wipe or paper towel i noticed it moved, and it wasnt cause she farted! I then started screaming for Aaron to come help us because then we were both mortified (fatty im sure more mortified i was examining her butt). And then we came to the conclusion it was a worm! I researched the internet and found out it was a tapeworm, and the internet (that never lies) said they get them from eating infested fleas! But they are indoor cats and its in the middle of winter! How could she have eaten a flea, i havent even seen her biting or scratching! anyway, thats why i was close enoughto my fattys butt to see she hada worm
