Do you think court ordered rehab maybe? and if you didnt show up, you go to jail? It would suck to not be able to work for those days (30, 45 or even 60 days) so you'd think maybe they'd think twice before they did it again. I'm sure with some alcoholics they don't care, they only care where their next drink is coming from. I have a relative by marriage thats been in rehab twice. Hopefully this time around he makes more of an effort.

As a parent, people like him really piss me off. I can't help thinking that he could take out my family.

You have a valid reason.

Your fear is well founded. I lost my Grandson to a drunk driver in 2003. The guy crossed the centerline and hit the car, my daughter and grandson were in, head-on. Later found out that he had been released from some sort of rehab program less than two weeks prior. He ended up getting a twelve year jail sentence.

Sorry to hear about your grandson. 12 years still sounds like a light sentence to me for murder, and that was what he did, and premeditated at that when he drank and got behind the wheel of a car. I have no sympathy for drunk drivers.

When my husband was little, toddler maybe, his 6 yr old brother was killed by a drunk driver in front of their house. He never even stopped. I believe a neighbor chased him down and got him to pull over. I don't think the guy even got 10 yrs jail time. This was about 34 - 35 yrs ago of course (hubby will be 37 this yr.). I can't imagine what his family or any family for that matter, go through. I live very close to Back Road Inn and it scares me anytime I have come home at night and have my kids with me.

I am so sorry awpitt :huggy: I think it doesnt matter if you go to rehab after being caught are not. You should get jail time. I have lost alot of friends and family members because of drunk drivers and it doesnt matter if you take the drivers license away most of them dont have them anyway. 12 years he should have gotten life for murder. Yes in compton hold you breath and cross your fingers and pray hard you make it home safe.
