Colorado Springs think it is about 70 miles west?? of Denver. You can see Pikes Peak it is about 10 miles from downtown, and the Air Force Academy is about 14 miles from downtown Colorado Springs

My SIL lives south of Colorado Springs (to the SE of Grand Junction). Beautiful area and friendly people. Visit a cigar lounge! Please wear a motorcycle helmet.
You can take 550/50 and ride through the National Forests if you want to head that way.

I went WWR while in CS, though it was about a 20 minute drive outside of CS on the Arkansas River. One of the best things I have done in my life.

Howdy ! While you're out that way , may I suggest ...............
Estes Park ( make sure you stop at the Baldpate Inn
Rocky Mountain Nat Park ( be a cool ride around the rim)
Get up into Cheyanne and see the Grandaddy of them all .....Frontier Days
Cross 80 and head up thru Pinedale into Jackson Hole .
We did a 5 week loop around Colorado and Wyo years back , best trip I've ever experienced .
That is the ride I want to do. Been to Jackson Hole and Cheyenne, long time ago though.

Oops, Colorado Nat. Monument is the one I want to ride. Million dollar highway would be awesome too as would the one you mentioned.
