The 2 web pages you supplied links to, do not give the names of public libraries that have banned books. The first link is a university library. The second link only gives the names of books that have been challenged, not banned.
Tick if you want, but my case has been made.

right,
whatever. You were wrong. The books are not banned. just like any addict, you clammor for any useless fact that might help gain power to your point. Like, "you have to die from something".
bottom line, smoking is rude and hazardous. You know it. In this area it is part of the culture, which is sad, but you are a dying breed. words and books never caused heart disease, cancer or emphysema. sure, saying the f word can and will get you killed in some cases, but it does not medically damage the person HEARING it. I am not trying to stop people from smoking, even though we all are footing the bill for millions of dollars in health care costs, I just want you to admit that it is what it is, a dangerous and hurtful product.

Forget that! I want to know which one allows Hustler!
None - my bad :blushing: I got magazines mixed up with the ALA not wanting porn filters on public library computers.

But the point was not about Hustler magazine in libraries. The point was about literary works being banned, which illustrates just how much power certain factions of our society have and are not afraid to wield.

In case you have never noticed everyone dies eventually. So in essence we all are a part of a dying breed. Dangerous and hurtful products are of an abundance in this world. You say you aren't trying to stop anyone from smoking, but it sure seems that "YOU" want to "TELL" everyone what is or isn't good for them just as these nanny governments are doing. That works real well for a suppossedly free society.

Why not say how smoking has hurt you? Not how it "might" hurt you or how you believe it "might" hurt you. While you are at it why not explain how the nation with the highest consumption rate of cigarettes also has one of the lowest incident rates of heart disease, lung cancer or emphysema?

I'm jumping in at the end of this, but ... I'm a reformed smoker (worst kind) and I admit I hate the smell of smoke on my clothes, in my hair .... but I know when I go into a bar, that's the price I pay. If I don't want to be bothered with it I don't go. That's all there is to it. Or I go sommewhere else.

If you think for a minute, there are more people killed in this world by drunk drivers than by 2nd hand smoke, but you sure as hell don't see people trying to outlaw drinking!

Get over it. There will always be something that others do that will annoy us.

:yeahthat: Some of us will just look the other way and others seek to ban it.

It'd be hilarious if they made a "fatties only section" in restaurants and only served up diet food. No pie for you! :lmao:

Another thing, and I'm not saying anyone here does this, but I HATE smokers that throw their damn cigarette butts out of the car window. That makes me crazy. :jameo:

Not only is it littering, but it starts fires!!

You should petition the auto manufacturers to put ashtrays in the cars.

Most that I know of charge extra now for a "smokers package". I believe it's around $20.00.

Wasn't a cigarette the blame of the fire recently in Solomon's??

I've never seen a smokers package, but then I haven't been car shopping in a few years. Could you please link me to this information?

It's my understanding that the fire in Solomons was caused by a cigarette, yes. It's also my understand that lightening strikes will cause fires. An electrical short can start a fire. Many things cause fires, so this is a useless argument. Fires happen.

That was from making people smoke outside and not maintaining the area free from combustable material. That turned out to be a great idea. :sarcasm:

This again? What public library has tried to ban books? Here...Lets try this one.....What government agency has tried to ban books? (and please stay within our lifetime) hummmm....."groups" try to ban books not the government. It's the government that tells them books cannot be banned.

An act of nature is out of our control, but humans are in control of their actions. An arsonist can cause a fire, so is this okay. Like you said fires happen.

I can tell you that Chrysler offers it (since I just bought a new car in February). Years ago when I was looking at Fords, I seem to remember that it was around $20.00. However, looking at Chrysler's site, the "Smoker's Group" is a $50.00 option.

Yeah, I know that fires can be started by many things. I'm just pointing out that a lot of smokers are careless by chucking their cigarette butts on the ground or out of car windows. It's not necessary and it's lazy.

True, but this is not the only example of carelessness. Would you like to see campires banned because some campers don't put them out completely and start forest fires?

...and most people don't special order their cars, they buy them off the lot. You think people will buy a blue car instead of the red one they want because it has the smokers package? You're making sound simpler than it is.

Yes, but only if you start a new thread about campfires.
