Last week Boy bombs a math test. This week he bombs a spelling test. I have told him over and over football is a game, school is real life.

So I just gave him a good ass chewing and he is in his room. Tonight is a scrimmage game and Saturday is a real game.

I already chewed his ass (My ass chewings are substantial) and took away TV. He is going to spend the rest of this week and next reading and studying.

by sitting out wouldnt that have an impact to his team?

Yes, he should go to scrimmage and tell ALL his team mates that he'll be missing scrimmage and the game because he wasn't able to follow thru on his commitment to school and he won't be able to support the team untill he improves his performance there.

He is 10 he doesn't have a cell phone.

Yea his team is short players, very few subs.

You can't sacrifice the team. Make him clean the truck too. You may as well get something out of the punishment.

Good idea, I could let him go and do that then let him play the second half.

Sit him down and calmly tell him that if he doesn't do well in school, he won't be able to get a good job and won't be able to afford a house and will have to rent the rest of his life.

I do not think football should be a punishment for bad school work because I do not think one has anything to do with the other. I was always into cause/effect punishments.

He just needs to come home from practice and have you sit with him to make sure he gets the homework done. Make him do it in the kitchen while you make dinner - that's what I did with Doug. When he's done with the homework and the parental quizzing, it's dinner and on to the video games and TV.

I agree..and take it a step further..make him sign an agreement that if he doesn't bring up the grade by xxxx, then xxx will happen. No video/computer time..tv...outside play...whatever.

You're a LOON :)
I vote no. If it was 2 test and this isn't normal for him and you have given him other punishement then to me that should be enough for now. If it continues then their should be harsher consequences.
