Young beagle in need - please consider her!

We were at Tri County one day,and they were having a free beagle month going on. We came across a dog who was standing in the corner cowering, shaking like a leaf. After asking about her,we found out she has been there awhile and was expected to be euthanized, because she simply wouldn't interact with anyone. I decided to take her,and give her some love and see if she could come around. Sure enough, she has,and now she needs to move on to her real, permanent home. I realize this may seem cruel to let her feel comfortable and then pass her on to another home, but she is less than 1 year old,and was facing being euthanized because some a$$hole mistreated her. So,I did what I could. Anyway, she is a little less than a year old,she is obviously a female, all shots,microchipped,spayed-or spaded as they say in the classifieds:killingme - and ready to go. I'm having trouble finding a place for her as people need to understand she is terrified of people, and needs time to warm up. It took me a week to get her out the corner of my kitchen. But I know if given a chance she is a wonderful dog. She loves children and although she is scared, she is much better with kids than adults, and has never bitten or growled out of fear. She simply hangs her head and huddles in a corner. If anybody might be interested in meeting her, please let me know - if you've read my other post looking for a rental you realize we need her placed before moving. If you think you might be interested,pm me. I won't hold you to anything, give her a shot and if you feel it's not working out,I'll pick her up no questions asked.

Awh...she sounds so sweet!!! I have a Beagle, older, but she's not friendly w/other dogs right away. You might want to consider the Beagle Rescue of Southern Maryland. Call and ask their advice. They have a website and they are located in Waldorf I believe.

Sounds like you've already helped her a LOT so she doesn't need me. We need find her a home - awww.

It makes me sick to see so many beagles at Tri-County! When I have space I'm going to get one of them and at least save 1 beagle.

Got any room on that ark for a beagle?

Tried to click and view your website, but couldn't access it for some reason. Are you a rescue? Know of any who might take her in?

Well I'm not an official rescue as my paperwork isn't complete yet. I also am living in limited space, so the critters I have right now are all I handle. Let me tell a few people I know about her - hey you have any pictures of her to share?

I'm new to the forums...let me see if I can figure out how to post a picture. In the meantime, she basically looks like a plain ole' beagle.Only much cuter and way better.

I looked on the Beagle Rescue site also, and didn't locate a phone number. I called information, but they had nothing. Perhaps if you go to their site and from what it appears, they are going to be at Petco in LaPlata this Saturday the 11th from 1-3 pm. Maybe you can call Petco and explain and they may have a phone number or POC for you to call. I'm sure the organization needs to make arrangements w/the store to bring their Beagles in there for adoption.

Just a thought.

Annemayer-I did see your request for a rental. We have a rental in Hollywood that will become available around Oct 10 or 15th. Before we go into any further detail can you PM me what your monthly price range is? The house is off the road (about 1/2 mile of gravel road to get to it) and is a very private setting. Thanks, Ginwoman

i have a soft spot for all beagles but not sure my home would be right for her -- newborn twins, a 2-year-old and a very playful beagle and bassett hound. I would definitely help in an emergency, though.

PM me if you decide you're interested or want to meet her. It sounds like you have a lot on your plate, and I'd feel bad burdening you.

annemayer - I got my current Beagle from the Charles County Humane Society 4 years ago. It's another option. I think they've upgraded their facility and kennels since then. Much nicer now, I think. I'd take her if I had the room and my Beagle was dog friendly. I'll keep searching for options as well. I have a soft spot for timid, scared animals.

Thanks for taking her in.
Along with three other dogs we have five beagles here now and four of them are females. One is technically a foster but I think she may end up staying.:ohwell:
I'm sure my wife will see this thread later today so there may be a slight chance of us helping but I can't promise anything.
