Young beagle in need - please consider her!

Mrs Wharf Rat said that she was fitting in nicely...WoW! The pictures confirm that. You both are awesome.

I think she had a good start with annemayer helping to socialize her before she came here. She's really small compared to the others but she has heart.
I've yet to see her back down from any real challenge the pack has thrown at her. She's already emulating a few of their signature moves and using it against them. Fun stuff to watch.

You know, I've heard people say about the really scared ones in the shelter that they should be put down to end their misery of fear. This just shows that isn't the answer.

However there was a case of a dog in fear that a lady called me about. She described to me a seemingly scared puppy she found injured in the road that she raised and the dog never really got over her fears, and the past year or so the dog had actually digressed so much she kept the dog away from her children. She was struggling with whether or not the dog could be placed with an experienced handler, or if she she be put down. The whole family really loved that dog, so I know it was a hard decision for her when she wasn't able to find a rescue or a person that could work with the dog. I suggested she also consider the dog may have a mental disorder that was getting worse? I never heard from again after that so I don't what happened. My heart really went out to her and the struggle she was having.

We already have a Bella in the pack.

How about Bellatrix? Like in Harry Potter! So sweet of you to say I gave her a good start...I felt bad when I left that night, guilty I hadn't really done what I set out to do,which was give her a home with us,so seeing that is a real compliment and I appreciate it.Belle looks so happy, and she definitely got socialized in my house.:evil:She was dressed up in clothes, humped incessantly by an overweight chihuahua, and called every profanity possible under my husbands breath when she would eat his shoes.....I'm so glad to know she is in good hands, and I'm thrilled that she finally gets to be her real self, and show her personality.

yeah - so much yeah - she looks so good in the pics and if it wasn't for YOU, she wouldn't have been given a chance to show she even HAD a personality (other than fear at the shelter) .... :yahoo: You are so great for caring !!!!

I am STILL watching the personality of this kitty from Tri-County that I took home .... she is blossoming slowly.

Okay, it's been a week (almost) and we're thinking about giving this girl a chance with another family. She's doing great and keeping her would be easy, but we feel since she's so young (8 months) she could bring a lot of joy to somebody else for many years and it's really in her best interest for the long run. If anybody might be interested or knows somebody feel free to pm me with any questions.

On the risk of sounding stupid, if she went to another home, it would be at the very least the fourth home for her, would that affect her?

We don't believe so. It takes her a little bit to warm up to strangers, but after a few minutes she gets very social. At this point, since she's so young, it could (we beleave) actually benefit her.
When we agreed to take her in, it was under the impression that she had problems. If she had any real issues or was abused, we're just not seeing it.
We also discussed our intentions to do what we believed would be best for her in the long run.
She would be just fine here, but with 8 other dogs there's some competition for attention. Most of our residents are misfits who couldn't find homes. We also have a foster who will most likely end up staying (she's a misfit too).
If this girl found a permanent home, it would free up space for something that really needed us. If not, it's no big deal. Being that she's still a puppy, gets along with everything and has no real issues now's the time to try.

:yay: Thank you. Makes perfectly good sense.
