If it's that expensive... You are in the wrong business... I used to make minimum $5000.00 a product. All told, at the end of the day - everything included probably cost me $20.00 bucks a month. Find something more lucrative. :huggy:

Find something more lucrative.

Yeah that is called just use my hubby's money......... :lmao:
He goes out for an hour for a job and comes back with $400. Now I can not do anything ( Legal) to make $400 an hour. We could of had the account to the Coke cola company. But hubby and father in law turn it down. Idiot. That was a 60,000 contract....

What I do is just for fun. I was thinking of taking some of my fun and try to make some money for my shopping habit. :lmao:

If ya clean houses ya make $100.00 an hour. If you detail cars... Ya make $100.00 an hour. If you hold a can on a corner you make $100.00 an hour maybe more.

I'm thinking, you might need a good 30 minute sit down with a Director of Marketing who can enhance your strengths. :huggy:

A. I dread cleaning my own house ( It is clean)... :lmao:
B. I hate to clean my own car. ( But it is clean for the most part).
C.I pass on the hold a can on the corner thing. :lmao:

My nephew did the whole web design thing. The little Shiat would design web pages for some nice companies and have checks sent to his house. Oh don't let me forget to tell you that he did this at the age of 15 in his bedroom. Once again he is a little shiat.. Now he is making poker tables...

The one thing I really want to do I have to wait for.. My hubby said he will support me and back me with the money. The only catch is I have to wait until he has full control of the business. Well It had been over 6 years and we are still waiting....
No I am not going to say what type of business I have in mind to open. All I have to say I have been working on the business plan for 4 years now.

After reading Abby's post about beads and such-I dug out my old Ballerina jewelry box and scrounged around-found my sisters venetian trade beads from the 60's and my love beads from the 70's...back in style baby, back in style! :yay:

That is what I am afraid of. Many see a piece with beads and think it should not cost that much. But on average a nice necklace with semi precious beads and crystals can cost me up to 30 a piece. I only use first grade beads. Like the snowman one that I would have to sell for around $70. I still would not make a huge profit from it.. Those 14mm beads alone are worth are $12 a piece. Dickerson jewelry use to sale them. They sold those single ball for $18 a piece. I use to buy them all the time. Then I went to a trade show and found the company that supply them. I have a resale tax id number so I started an account with them.
Well, I think I am going to give it a shot. I will probably just start off with a small inventory just to see how things works out. Maybe around 20 pieces.

Ya, I know your pain. I considered making jewelry a while back- I always made my own. After research I decided it wasn't worth the effort, but bead making seemed lucrative for the very reason jewelry making is hard to turn a profit on- the supplies are what bring your profits down. That's why I suggested it.

The best businesses like this don't expect to get rich- they expect to break even. They just love doing it. If you're really good and selling in a hot spot, you may get bigger. But don't count on it; the market is flooded with handcrafted smallscale pieces. You'd do better do make really upscale stuff and sell to the nice shops in DC and Baltimore, where you can charge big but leave room for the retailers to rape their customers. Don't hold back to the fairs and festivals if you really want to make good money. Aim high!

Make 'em oooh and aaah!

some of my pieces can be change form causal wear to formal wear with just one necklace.. like the first one that I attached.. I also do a lot with Swarovski crystals. I made one very similar to the second one that design was the first design type I learn how to do. Which I find to be simple. I am learning however That using seed beads to make a peyote bracelet is a pain in the donkey butt. I am getting there on having difficult designs but My main thing is that I like to have hard to find components in my pieces...
Those are cute, but IMO, definately not worth $70. I have a few pieces of handmade jewelry that my stepmom has bought for me over the years. She gets them at local craft shows and a set (earrings and necklace) don't run anymore than $30. I'm actually wearing one of the necklaces today.

I'm not a big jewelry person, but I do like to wear necklaces and earrings that coordinate with my outfits. $6 for a pair of earrings would be a bargain if you ask me. :yay:

Well the first necklace you can actually purchase at jewelry stores. So those are your normal beads type necklaces..
Now that other necklace would be more towards the $30 side....

I haven't really spent money on Jewelery since I was a teen. Just not my personal thing. The only person I buy for is my mom. If I was at a craft show and something caught my eye, I might buy it if it was reasonable. :huggy:

If I see something over $50 that really catches my eye and is unique, I will buy it, but I don't buy a lot. A couple pieces at Anne Marie Gardens over the years. I don't wear a lot of it, but if I really, really like something, I will buy it. I'm also an earring freak. I have $700 earrings (hubby bought them) I don't wear often, but I love them. I buy earrings from $5/pair to $50/pair if I really love them.

I'm big on bracelets! I've found a couple at Carmen's that I really like, as well as at the beach (FL) and try to experiment some styles after those... I really can't get away with wearing too many necklaces due to a bad disc, but I enjoy making them...

I am so very blessed
I don't go to craft shows, so obviously wouldn't buy any jewelry from those places. The one craft show I did go to didn't impress me; most of the stuff they peddle was pretty cheesy and looked like it was made by some near-blind grandmother who had never studied a color wheel.

Why would I want to purchase something for high dollars when I could probably make it myself, for cheaper and where it would probably look more professional?

I would buy it, but not more than 50.00. I like the one on the right.

I know that I could make it myself, but I lack the patience to sit there and make a necklace.

My sister-in-law pays 300 for each time she comes to the house. But trust me that Lady is earning every penny of it as well. It is way too much house for one person to clean on her own. Can you imagine cleaning a 9 bedroom 6 bath house.

How about ebay? I heard people can make a killing off ebay if it is worded just right.

Unique hand crafted jewelry from local Southern Maryland artist or something like that?
