Joe Rogan critics Neil Young and Joni Mitchell have their history of offenses

The aging artists pulled their music from Spotify in protest of podcast giant Joe Rogan

Neil Young and Joni Mitchell have spearheaded a movement of aging and lesser-known musicians who've pulled their music from Spotify in protest of podcast superstar Joe Rogan remaining on the platform.

Spotify has been under fire for not censoring "The Joe Rogan Experience," which has been accused by critics of spreading COVID "misinformation."

However, both Young and Mitchell have their own history of controversy.

During the height of the AIDS epidemic, Neil Young attacked the gay community, suggesting anyone can catch the disease at the grocery store and using a homophobic slur.

"You go to a supermarket and you see a f----t behind the f---in’ cash register, you don’t want him to handle your potatoes," Young said in a 1985 interview with Melody Maker.

Meanwhile, Joni Mitchell has a history of wearing blackface.

I have read plenty of interviews with musicians over the years. Often times, the interviewer will ask what is meant by a particular song or lyric, etc. The answer is almost invariably: “whatever you want it to mean.” and a direct answer to the question is avoided. Dee Snider said essentially the same thing when he testified in front of Congress regarding Tipper Gore’s PMRC - I forget the exact quote.

And that is what I always the point of music was. A metaphor. Something to make one think. Sure there is plenty of straight ahead story telling a la Johnny Cash but like a good book the story is rarely the words printed on the page.

I certainly understand the objection to Neil’s voice. Just as I understand the objection to Bob Dylan’s voice or Janis Joplin or Jimi Hendrix etc. But wouldn’t deprive myself of great story telling or guitar wizardry or whatever it is an act brings to the table just because of a voice. There is either a story to be told or there is not.
GOD say it aint so I agree with the hemi

Im personally kinda pissed off about the SB halftime lineup. With all the grandstanding and "safety" that was proclaimed since "Boob-Gate" it seems rather biased that 5 performers were selected simply because their producer/friend (Jay-Z) is in bed with the NFL. Also, that NONE of them can put out a single song without foul language or dropping an N-bomb in the lyrics.
Its a racist half time show nothing but ghetto dogs will be on stage talikng about the white man..kinda like the commercial on the nfl network where the black kid say he makes less than a white man with the same skill set

I think she knows Virgl Cain who rode on the Danville train

Which should get her canceled, one would think. It's okay to sing a song romanticizing the slave owning South??

I want Joni boycotted and removed from every music venue in existence, and then I want her thrown in a gulag with Kanye music blasting 24/7.
