You've got mail: You're fired!

At first I thought, man, that's just wrong...but when I clicked on the article and saw "pink slip", I felt that it's really no different. Probably even a better way to inform an employee, considering I don't always open the envelope with my pay stub.

Couldn't agree more. Girl I'd been dating for the last couple of months informed me there was someone new via text message while I was in Maine last week.

I had a guy breakup with me via instant message.

BTW, sorry about your news. :huggy:

In My Opinion
about 6 or 7 years ago I worked for a company called Inacom, I was one of their network administrators that roamed from site to site fixing server issues under contract.
I ended up with an onsite position finally at a large Annapolis business.
On a friday we got an email that said there would be a recorded update from the corporate meeting at 5pm and we were directed to call the number and listen to it.
The message was quick and to the point.
As of 5pm today, Inacom will no longer operate as a corporation. we regret to inform ALL employees outside of the main corporate office that as of 5pm today, your services to the company will no longer be needed. Thank you for your support and understanding.

and thats how over 3000 individuals found out that they had just put in their last day of work.

I was one of the lucky ones, I was offered a position at the place I was assigned to by that company until I was able to find another position.

seems to be the way to do things now.

Many companies who fire people these days do it with a security guard present to watch as you empty your desk and then escort you off the premises. Much like a criminal. This method says , we dont trust you to act like an adult.

I think I would rather just get an email.

Super Genius
Reminds me of the Fifth Element...

Mr. Kim: You got a message.
Korben Dallas: Yeah
Mr. Kim: You're not gonna open it? It might be important.
Korben Dallas: Yeah, like the last two I got were important. The first one was from my wife, telling me she was leaving. The second was from my lawyer, telling me he was leaving... with my wife.
Mr. Kim: Ah, that's bad luck. Grandfather say it not rain everyday. This is good news, guaranteed. I bet your lunch.
Korben Dallas: Okay, you're on.
Mr. Kim: Come on...
[Reads]
Mr. Kim: You are fired. Oh.
Korben Dallas: Well, at least I won lunch.
Mr. Kim: Good philosophy, see good in bad, I like.

Seems like a very impersonal way to end a personal relationship.

Oh, I agree, it's very cruel. In this case, they were both young, and she was a drama queen. He felt it was his only way out. :lmao: She's done a ton of growing up over the past few years, and will probably always be there for him no matter what. He's going to visit her next week, I hope they elope. :killingme

How's your brother doing?
Much better, thanks for asking. He's driving now, and is on his third prosthetic. He walks pretty well, but at this point can only wear the leg for 1-2 hour increments.
