God damn you are stupid. Educate yourself, read the dred scott decision

Well, lets ...

The Dred Scott Decision: The Dred Scott decision clearly defined how wide the gap was between the North and the South with respect to slavery and equal rights. Dred Scott, a slave, had been taken by his owner from the slave state of Missouri to the Wisconsin Territory, where Congress prohibited slavery under the Missouri Compromise of 1820. He was also taken to Illinois, which was a free state at the time. He later sued, contending that he should be considered a free man given that he had been taken to places where slavery was prohibited. After several lower court decisions and appeals, the Supreme Court in a 7-2 decision ruled that the Missouri Compromise was unconstitutional, because Congress lacked the power to ban slavery in the territories. The ruling went on to declare that African Americans could never be citizens of the United States, because blacks "are not included, and were not intended to be included, under the word 'citizens' in the U.S. Constitution, and can therefore claim none of the rights and privileges which the instrument provides and secures to citizens of the United States. On the contrary, they were at that time [1787-88] considered as a subordinate and inferior class of beings who had been subjugated by the dominant race, and, whether emancipated or not, yet remained subject to their authority, and had no rights or privileges but such as those who held the power and Government might choose to grant them." Declaring that Dred Scott could not be considered a citizen meant that he lacked the rights provided for in the Constitution to bring suit against a citizen of another state in federal court.

At the time, according to the laws on the books at the time, not decided feel good activist judges, it was the correct legal decision.

Let's take it a bit further. Can we not use this decision against illegal aliens as well since they are not citizens in the realm they have no standing to take any legal action against any level of governments?

So you are saying it wasn't 7-2?

;-)

My cum sock has more brains in it than you have ever possessed, Mo. That's a fact.

No, I am saying you are a complete idiot.

BTW, if you bothered to read it you would know it was more like 8-1. But by all means, please continue to talk out your ass instead.

So, seems Mike Miller saw a chance to take a shot at Hogan for this. Strictly motivated by "Spit in your eye" politics, of course, but interesting read.

Here to me is the key.

" This was not an ordinary matter of business before the Trust. Any urgency could certainly have been accommodated by an emergency meeting and does not excuse the hidden nature of the process regarding an important matter before the State House Trust"

Maryland seems to take great pride in hiding things from the public view. While touting transparency, of course. Wasn't good for Dems, not good for Rs either.

The only reason Mike Miller is writing the Governor as he is doing, is because MM is a Democrat "fixture" in (Calvert County) Maryland politics. If Taney had been a Republican, he would have been 100% A-OK with it.

The statues being removed across the country most likely also have quite a long history of complexities in the personalities of the people they commemorate.

Mike Miller needs to sit down and shut up. You can't have it both ways, Lefties.

Anything 'nice' you see in the south was built by exploiting the labor of slaves, anything 'nice' you see in the north was built exploiting the labor of immigrants (irish, german, polish). My reverence for old white dudes who 'built this country' is somewhat tempered by the fact that they didn't build #### but only commanded around the people who did.

Movimng Tneys statue sent a message.

Not the message that Tanet made a bad decision as Supreme Court Justice,

But the message that Maryland was frightened the thugs would come.
They were afraid of the violence these people bring with them.
Proving iof you want anything done by politicians do not be afraid to frighten them with violence. They will cave.

Slaves did the menial laborious work. Digging the ditches, carrying the brick, etc. The skilled tasks were such as laying the brick, taking the measurements, running the plumb line, etc. was done by those old white dudes. But then again .... slaves were not used to "build" anything "nice" as you say. Slaves did the repetitious back breaking tasks in the field that have been replaced by tilling and harvesting equipment. Unless of course you are referring to things like St. Mary’s County's very own African-American Monument, a pyramid of stone in Lexington Park, made my black folks 17 years ago. Now that's nice. Unless one really things about it .... Couldn't they think of anything else to construct other than a pyramid of stones?

Google is your friend :
Inspired by a hymn, Rough Side of the Mountain, it was decided that rough stone would make up the monument. Says Mr. Brown, "The stones and the shape of the monument represent the difficult struggle of blacks climbing the rough side of mountain to get to the other side."

Links to the 8-1 claim. Thanks in advance.

Let's see; A song inspires black folks to what? Build a monument to remind of their struggles? Achievements inspire white men built monuments to remind of their triumphs. Blacks build a pyramid of stones. Whites construct buildings of steel, glass and marble. Blacks see the past. Whites see the future. Synopsis: Living in the past and harboring negative sentiments is detrimental to your future, stifles innovation and and allows for no creativity. Instead of wondering of the possibilities? What can we create today? They bemoan, live and dwell in the past, using all that time given to bitch about something so far in the past it's pointless. Except, it really doesn't take much thought to build stone stacked pyramid. Instead of getting creative, they copied a thousands of years old structure. Without adding any of the intricacy's the Egyptians did. So, in actuality, a poor copy. I would rather hear about positive things and possibilities that inspire creativity, than all negative crap that only instills bitterness.

I wasn't going to post again, tonight, because I get accussed of being drunk, a witch, a vampire, or something. But, you are right. The thing is that if monuments of our Civil War history are going to be torn down, they should all be torn down; no matter which side, which color, or which opinion, or when they were erected. You get it, and so do I. The hypocrisy is unbelievable. Selective memories need not apply. I feel so bad for our ancestors, black/white/or whatever color that built our great America. It is like the lame current pansy libprogs don't get that part. If it wasn't for them, they wouldn't be here to bitch about anything.

And, let us not forget about Native Americans that suffered the most. Getting murdered for being in the way, was an even worse fate. How many monuments have been erected to Native Americans. I haven't seen any. Maybe, I missed them.

I am proud to be an American and to live in the greatest country in the world. But, if you look at history, no country is perfect; they all have had their strifes, and wars. I just don't understand this wishing for change thing. I think libprog Americans will regret what they wished for if this current upheaval comes to fruition on their side. And, then they will bitch about why they are in poverty, and have no rights.

Key word: corruption. Isn't it so funny that we go out to vote, but nothing changes. Not funny. God bless, America. :patriot:
