Supposed to chop it up and add it to the pot. Whole fennel, not seed.

It was ok. The meats were good, but the olive/grapes was kinda weird.

Better check that recipe because there is NO fennel in it. I watched the video too and all Rachel mentions is sweet sausage with fennel IN it. Only chopped herbs were thyme and rosemary, plus sliced shallots.

Not a big fan of olives nor roasted grapes so I was wondering how that was going to turn out. I think I will skip it.

 I was reading another recipe and somehow transposed the ingredients.

I'd do it again, but modify it to my liking. Gotta start somewhere!

Gotcha. I read a lot of recipes and get them mixed up, too. That one sounds better than the first one. I may follow a recipe the first time but usually improvise to suit my tastes on subsequent times I make it. Or just do my normal free-range, on-the-fly cooking and hope for the best.

Filet mignon cooked perfectly on the grill (mmmmmMMMMMOOOOOOOO!!) with oven roasted cauliflower.

I was impressed, actually. The filet was a blister pack from Giant, but was really tender and tasted good.

I don't get the attraction to a filet. To me they're mushy and flavorless. I'm a ribeye girl.

I will forever now choose a rib eye over a filet.

Oh wow - Monello and I had casino buffet in Biloxi and it was AMAZING!!

This is Hoosier Park Casino in Anderson, IN and they tend to do a good job, it's about the best restaurant within 20 miles of home and not anywhere near Indy.
26 bucks & tip well spent..
I think the best casino I have eaten at is just outside of Olive Branch Mississippi.
When I visit family we go their and a few of the local " near Oxford " catfish restaurants.
Oxford has a few nice restaurants, I usually save my Garden & Guns magazines because they do alot of restaurant reviews around the South.

My sister has a small harness racing operation and I have gone with her and BIL to Dover Downs a few times. Casinos can have pretty good restaurants in them. I went to a conference in Reno about 10 years ago and Sterling's Seafood Steakhouse in the Silver Legacy was awesome. :yay:

Are all of you people retired !!??!?!
I got home from work and threw on some tuna-melts on hamburger buns w/ frozen french fries.
Who has time/energy/ambition to cook a gourmet meal on a week night !

Although the tequila sunrise accompanying the so-so meal made it all tolerable. :buddies:
