A Foretelling?

Been house-bound since middle last week, so finally got out today to get some staples. Walked up the milk aisle, barren. :yikes: The only thing available was gallon whole milk, and not much of it, and a bunch of off-brand/specialty stuff. Not one container of half gallon anything. Continue up to the eggs. My normal choice was MIA, and the rest looked a bit thin. Everything else looked ok, lots of bread, rice, etc.... but the lack of these two items made me go huh...

Coincidence, late truck, hoarding, or supply issues? No idea.

I just came from Giant in Lusby; a store that used to be nice. Cleaning supplies, milk and eggs were in short supply but the rest of the store seemed to be getting stocked.

I meant to mention this. I was at the commissary on Saturday and I was astonished at the things they were out of. Might not be a bad idea to start Thanksgiving shopping this far out.

I went yesterday and thought the same thing, there were bare shelves for some items. I put it down to being after payday weekend?

Imagine my surprise that the commissary is out of an item...

I have been stocking up on items as soon as they became available back on the shelves for the last few months. Figured either another shutdown would happen or things going south after the election and delivery trucks not being able to drop their loads. Now I just replenish what we use during the week and will grab "extras" of other stuff if I happen to see them on the shelves. I told myself I wasn't going to go through what happened during the shutdown when I was scrambling for food and supplies.

No doubt in my mind now. Certain things are disappearing. Milk, rice.... not totally, but there are lesser amounts and fewer brands. TP.... nothing but weird off-brands on the shelves now. I don't think it's all hoarding, looks like stores are throttling the supplies.

If you have freezer space, turkey is a good buy right now... And there are a few good deals; Marie Callander (sp?) frozen pies, almost half off, and if you buy 2, you get a can of RediWhip! Last day for that at Giant.

This entire experience has caused me to rethink my grocery store strategy. I find I only want to go, at the most, every two to three weeks. I used to love to go every week. I stock up on anything and everything I know we would ever use food wise. Pantry and freezer never empty. I don't think I will go back to the once a week thing ever again.

I did order a case of Toilet Paper from our Office supplier. Didn't realize it was 96 rolls! I am covered for a little bit
