...then we could say that Pete's bike is a Rebel! :killingme
Ahh, he's too cheap. He should buy it for his boy to learn on though. Plus they will be collectables someday.
Just for future info.

I really hate the fact that when you bring up the site, the first words you see are "monumental blow-out."

You can ride it any time. My other one is going in the shop on Sunday. Hopefully, he won't have it too long.

I just popped the Vulcan onto the battery charger so I can at least get it somewhere. I can usually get 40 to 70 miles on a charge. Plus I bought a Jumpstarter/battery thingy that fits in the saddle bag.

Wire a set of leads from the battery out behind one of the side covers. You need the key to close the little behind the seat storage box (where the bolts that hold the seat in place are). If you've just jump started the bike you won't want to take the key out of the ignition to close the box.

Tire mileage???

Lets see:

Front tires...get close to 24K per tire.
Rear tire... get 15K if I behave myself.

Tire pressure is critical to long tire life. 42 psi for the front, 48 psi in the rear. That is what has been recommended (not be the manufacturer) for the 850 pound K1200LT. First thing I do before every ride is check the pressure. If it is not spot on, the 12V pump comes out of the side bag to top it off.

The first tires on the bike were Dunlops I believe. They were shot at 7K miles. The ME 880's have been on the bike for the last 68K miles.

I did rotate the tires once...couldnt figure out how to get the chain to the sprocket!!!

Oh..and I get much better mileage when they are filled with summer air!!!

I'm just about at 11k miles on the V S, still have the stock Dunlops and plenty of tread left.

Gotta love that summer air in the tires, seems like the bike will just run all day with that

It's true :nono:
When I have winter air in the tires, I have to stop the bike at most every 100 miles and it usually will only run the short distance between home and work. When I pump them up with that nice warm summer air the bike will run all day, only needing gas stops.

Removed the Toolbox on the Vulcan when I bought it. The door was broke. Put a sissy bar bag in its place. I'm planning on running cables, maybe mounting posts under one side panel.

I like to use Summer Air in the winter, and winter air in the summer. The difference seems to give me more traction.

Haven't rotated the tires yet. Don't like the look with the small one in back.

If you're serious, or are interested, let me know, I can meet you at the test center and let you borrow the bike for the day.

I picked up the stuff I need to make an easy access jump terminal on the bike. Went to West Marine for supplies. Should be a simple process once I determine where I want them to be. I've decided it would take me too long to get the stator fixed on my own. So I'm taking it to Motovations. I'm going to go to Clinton Cycles this week and drool over the Bonnies next week. Who knows maybe I can get one financed.

I had mine run behind one of the side covers. I could reach behind and pull it out enough to get the mating plug on.
What gage wire are you using?

I went with 12gauge, should carry enough current. I also got a set of terminal posts. I think I'm going to run them either behind the saddle bags or underneath the sissy bar bag. My saddle bags zip off which would allow quick and easy access.
