A-holes burning leaves

I like the smell of burning leaves but unfortunately I have severe allergies and my breathing pretty much stops when the smoke starts spreading. My neighbor was outside burning yesterday and it brought my enjoyment of a perfect day to a screeching halt. :coughgaspcoughgasp:

I sympathize with this. And maybe just telling them about it and ask if they may do it when your not home. Can't hurt to ask. I don't recommend calling the fire dept and health dept to complain....that would be bad.

The skunks will be your friends....

When I went white water rafting in the California mountains the skunks up there were quite accustomed to tourists. There were several of them that would come up to you and allow you to pet them for a small treat.

I was reluctant at first, I admit.

P.S. I love the smell of a skunk.

You live in or near Town Creek, dontcha?

That's my complaint too. The instant it's nice enough to open up the house, you have to close it back down to keep the smoke out. There is no valid reason to burn ** leaves anymore.

** most of the time it's not even burning leaves, they're just smoldering because they are wet or dumped in the fire choking it.

I don't mind the smoke in Town Creek - it's the people who leave their dogs outside all night to bark and bark and bark.... :cds:
That's what forces us to close our windows. I always wonder how the dogs' owners can sleep.

our neighbors have dogs that bark all the time. We are not that close to them and it sounds like the dogs are standing outside out window and barking. It will go on all night. This has been going on for years. I always think "how the hell do they not hear the darn dogs, everyone else in the neighborhood does". If we go outside in our yard and the dogs see us they continue to bark until we go in the house. I might go over there one night and load them up and take them for a ride far, far away

You can live in my neighborhood - we're all pretty chill about things like dogs and leaf burning.

I had neighbors on all sides burning today... I don't mind the leaves burning, it takes away the chicken/pig poop fertalizer smell from the farms at this time of year, but some of the neighbors start burning trash and that freaking sucks! :cds:

I don't mind the burning either, but today in Hughesville, it smelled like somebody was not only burning leaves but rubber as well. The smell of burnt rubber is just NASTY...

I'd take the smell of burning leaves over chicken litter. That's what we got to smell all weekend.

I burned a big pile of my leaves / branches last weekend in the rain/drizzle. Have another big pile ready to burn. Another one will be built once I clean up the last of the debris from getting the trees cut. I try to do my burning when people do not have windows open, or the immediate neighbors are not home.
