Accident in waldorf, teen dead??

I know the area. None of the address are really correct, as you know I have a Brandywine address and my neighbors have Hughesville or Waldorf I'm not too far from DogPatch. There's lots of deer in the morning that time flying out into the road. I was thinking maybe a deer ran out in front of them when I heard single car accident and tree and the time of morning and area. :frown:
I think technically that intersection is considered Malcolm, but I don't know if Malcolm even has a post office anymore, so the mailing address may be Waldorf....in any case, the intersection itself is what is known as "Dog Patch" It's where five roads come together by an old bar that was shut down for dozens of violations. For anyone who has been in the area a few years you'll know it as the intersection where it used to be, if you drove through it and tossed money out the window, they tossed you some crack back. And if you drove through and didn't throw money out the window, they stopped your car, pulled you and and beat the crap out of you. And if you stopped on your own (because there was a stop sign and you were obeying the law) and you weren't one of the dealers, they'd shoot you for being a cop.

Any updates? I'm worried about my neighbor's kids now:frown: I Googled it to see just how close I live and its only 3.4 miles and 8 minutes away. I drove through here this morning at about 7:05 obvoiusly right before the terrible accident getting into work. This is the place I thought it was after seeing Speedy's email about Dog Patch. There's LOTS of deer, I drive through here every day almost at a crawl in morning and night worrying about getting rear ended from slaming on breaks from all the deer. I'm praying the other kids can pull through. Soo sad and just before the holidays. This really sucks :frown:

Its changed, everything is abandoned now. It used to be really rough about 10 years ago and earlier is what the locals tell me. Even the old garage on the corner has been abandoned.

It's been 10 years or so since the police cleaned it up. I can't say for sure when it was, but I grew up near there and as kids we'd go there all the time, we went to school with the kids there ....then we'd go through when we had to, but kept the windows up...then later, we'd keep the windows up and only slow down for the stop sign, not stop and not make eye contact with anyone...then we'd drive for miles out of our way to avoid the intersection and shake our heads over the outsiders who didn't know better and managed to get beat up for getting lost near there...then I moved away for a time and when I came back it was all gone. I know when my uncle was murdered in LaPlata in 1990 the cops went to Dog Patch to investigate...solved the crime before the funeral.

I grew up in Upper Marlboro and knew about Dog Patch. It used to be the Anacostia of SoMD.

From Channel 4's website:
Police said the teens were traveling on Poplar Road when they lost control, crossed the line and struck a tree. Authorities said speed and driver error were factors.

My guess is she drifted off the road and over-corrected...there is no paved shoulder there. If the accident was just before 8, they were really late for school. At 17, in the same situation, I know I would've been flying.

Is it really necessary to put the name in the thread? Think of the family and friends. how would you like to find out your friend/relative died by reading it on a forum?

The information is now public information and no longer speculation. There is no reason to keep it from this thread.

Yes..keep rumors form spreading, lets people know just who it is and besides, it was on television,...and I am sure it will be on many websites in a matter of minutes.

Why is it a problem for you???

Yes, it is near Malcolm. There is no Malcolm post office so their address is Waldorf. However, I know someone that lives right around the corner and even though they're in Charles County, their address is Brandywine (which is PG).

When I was a kid, the drug dealers stood on side of the road and would wave little baggies at your windshield as you went through the intersection. My mom would bare down on the gas and tell them to move out of her way. :lmao:
