first ans formost prayers to all the childern and their families, also to all the responders and witnesses!

i just moved back up here in dec of 06 im not sure about it here but there is in virginia: Since July 1, 2001, Virginia licensed drivers under age 18 are not allowed to drive between midnight and 4:00 a.m. in most cases. Also, teen drivers are restricted to the number of passengers under age 18 who may travel with them (one passenger if the driver is 16; three passengers if the driver is 17). Passenger restrictions do not apply to family members.
so she would be within the law if there.

I remember when Virginia passed that law. I just moved here from the Norfolk area in December 2005. My kids have known a lot of teenagers who have died and not just from driving accidents that were their fault. Wow. I just realized there were at least four I can think of offhand where the kids were doing the right thing and were killed by drunk driving adults in the other vehicles. So tragic and so senseless. You try to teach the kids right and the adults are not learning in some cases. Definitely Prayers to all of the families.

here I am sure this is what you wanted newby

Accident Route 4 &... 11-06-2007 12:41 PM Do you hear it?? World's smallest violin is playing for you.

Actually I am not sure why you would leave such a comment to me. It's very sad when kids loose their life, and when you have to hold another child because he lost his best friend.

BTW you don't have enough post to give me red so your comment was gray.

I pray for the families involved

How could you put those pictures on here? How would you feel if it were your children in that accident? I sent an email to Cheif Wells of the Dunkirk VFD and thanked him for being respectful to the families in this case and then some other person (not my first choice of words) has to come along and post photos. Just think, it may be your family member someday and someone else might post pics of it.

Yes, it may be a member of my family some day, and I hope I have the common sense to not look at television and web sites that will have pictures of their misfortune, because they will be there.

Just because the will be there, readily available, doesn't make it any less morbid or insensitive.

I wouldn't count on it.

But maybe it would make a difference. Maybe a parent will be able to talk to their teenagers and show their kids the pictures of just how horrific a split second wrong decision could be. Maybe a parent will be able to get through to their child because they are able to see the visual effects rather than just hearing the verbal.

I seriously doubt the poster meant any harm, or was trying to be morbid for posting the pictures. We all look at accidents when we go by them, the news puts pictures and video on TV for all to see there is no difference with this person putting pictures on public view. You did not have to look at the pictures if you didn’t want to, it was a link, not a photo when you opened up the forums.

and I think I can seriously doubt that the parents that have lost one child and are praying for recovery of their son Ryan, are reading the SOMD forums right now.

My prayers are with the family, friends and relatives of all involved.

Any updates on Ryan? We all pray that he pulls through. As a parent, I could not even imagine the pain.

A friend here at work knows the family. It doesn't look good for Ryan. He is in a coma, and they fear brain damage, and they are considering their options. Its so sad that God can be so cruel to one family. They have another daughter who is in and out of the hospital with a series of heart problems, and her prognosis isn't good.

Oh my. I am so sorry to hear all of this. I will keep on praying. I won't forget about the other daughter. Thank you for sharing that information.

That is so sad. No parent should ever have to bury a child, but for these parent to have to go through so much is just horrible.

My son lost his best friend in an accident almost a year ago and it broke my heart. When I was growing up, I don't remember so many young people dying in accidents like there are now. It's just so sad.

Thanks for the information. It is so overwhelming, it breaks my heart. We continue to pray for them all and hope that some miracle pulls Ryan through this as well as their other daughter to get better.:huggy:

Why are you blaming God, saying that he is being so "cruel" to one family? Accidents happen. Who is to say the reason it happened? Human error? Lack of appropriate traffic signals? Lack of visibility because of the hills and the trees?
