On a serious note, I found it very interesting about chemical imbalances and their tendency to run in families; that is mental health issues. I know of a gal with three children that has Narcolepsy. Her middle child has moderate ADHD. Her cousin has ADHD and Tourrette's associated tremors and ticks. His mother and grandmother (the gal's grandmother as well) both are bipolar.
The gal with Narcolepsy has pretty much become med free. The middle child is medicated only when absolutely necessary - I believe during stressful situations/hyperactivity or long interruptions from careful routine. The cousin is virtually free of his Tourrette's associated meds/side effects as well as any meds for the ADHD and joined the service. And the grandmother and daughter struggle, but mostly due to resistence.
Now, granted this is a very large family, but they don't just "accept" a diagnoses and open up and say "ahhhh" for a pill...
When I heard about them, I found it interesting to have so much "stuff" going on in their gene pool.
Does it make ADD/ADHD any more viable where mental health issues are already present in the bloodline?
