Dems are ya listening to CC? She's right! Ride the Keller and you will be able to afford to get your own place sugar!
Get a cheaper more fuel efficient car, take the bus or train, quit b!tching and do something. If you think the "House Fairy" is going to drop keys off to you, you are mistaken.dems4me said:It balances out... for starters, I'm sure you don't have to pay 220.00 a month just to park where you park, you receive child support and can claim your child as a dependent... is all I'm saying... The 400.00 difference from 1300 to 1700.00 is easily abosrbed in a 400.00 truck payment a month - have I mentioned the rising price of gas when you drive 3 hours a day just to get to work and back

I have 1 dependent and no child support for years. I saved every penny for my last 3 years to build a down payment (instead of gambling, playing pool, offering to buy body aromor and sending flowers to strangers, feeding a zoo in your backyard) I searched out a mortgage, found a range and did it.
If you need to cut costs freaking do it. You are right, you are getting too old to be screwing around looking for housing. See if you were a conservative you would have thought it out and taken care of it long ago and not floundering around now. Liberalism = Aaaah, don't worry about tomorrow, someone will step in and help you out.NOT

But I like to go out to dinner when I want and hop on a plane to FL or vegas if I feel like it. I like the live with in my means and by the mortgage companies rule I can afford a 400-500k house but there is no way in the world I can do that and still provide for my family without putting my self into debt or worrying about what happens if Im out of work and what not. Thats my big issue is that what happens if we have a serious downturn in the economy here in the metro area.. there are going to be alot of house sitting there on the foreclosure market.

dems4me said:but didn't you have money or something to put down? The sale of the last house or something:shrug:
crabcake said:It's not ridiculous; it's a choice ... just like the fact you have a huge truck payment and high gas costs (hello, keller bus is only $38/week). I love my family too, but I'm not gonna drop every penny of my savings and equity from this house on another house at the beach that's gonna have a high payment just to be close to them.

It's about priorities, Dems ... animals are cute and fuzzy, but they don't give you a place to sleep ... they only end up making a nice pair of gloves one day.

EVERY PENNY COUNTS, as long as you are in denial and irresponsible with your money you are destined to live off the benevolence of others.dems4me said:Pete -- that is sooo wrong... the pools, etc... is only 5.00 a sheet -- which is NOT EVEN a drop in the bucket for coming up with 30-40K. I've honestly considered popping out about 5 kids and living off of welfare because it would be easier....can't beat em join em kind of thing... but instead... I'm a productive citizen and some kid over seas can benefit more from a 500.00 vest than for me to put it into the ever fading dream of owning a home -- if I put 500.00 in the bank... then it would be only 500.00 less.... another drop in the buck.
btw, in response to your last question, it was never about someone stepping in and helping me out... I've always made a living on my own and had prided myself on being independent and generally being the bread winner in relatoinships...so I wouldn't need a relationship and be the needy kind of woman that is afraid to NOTbe in a relationship or afraid to leave a bad relationship.thanks for your thoughts though
just the same. With you having a kid and all I'm glad it was you -- not me that jumped on the house buying when you did.

crabcake said:For real. The price of gas alone she's paying now would probably equate to a third or more of her mortgage payment. AND it's less wear and tear on your vehicle (less maintenance expenses), less insurance cause you drive less miles (discounts for that).

Email your liberal friends at moveon.org, they have extra cash I am sure they will be tickled pinko to cut you a check.

BadGirl said:I am a single person with a moderate salary. I recently bought my "dream house for now", and I'm able to afford the monthly payments only because I make smart decisions on how to spend my money. I'm stuck with slow-azz dial-up at home because I don't want to spend money needlessly. I rarely go out to dinner - although I do splurge on lunch. I don't go to the movies or rent DVD's very often. I don't take many vacations, and I shop when sales are going on. And when times were particularly lean, I worked part-time jobs to supplement my income. You just have to prioritize your needs and wants to be able to afford a home in today's market. If you choose to spend that extra $5.00 on footbal pools, that's your choice. But you need to have a broader vision for what you want to do with your life, and where you want to live. A lot of people here have made some excellent suggestions on how to afford your very own house - you should heed them. By the way, I love my house, and feel extremely grateful to be living there. But I ate a lot of Ramen noodles and Kraft Macaroni & Cheese to be able to do it.
sleuth said:You may take a paycut, but I doubt it's as huge as you think.
Try looking in Bloomington, IN. In my work, I'd actually make more money to move, but my $215K house would go for $120K at most there.
Now I just have to get that darn offer in writing.![]()
Why not?dems4me said:I'm not going to pack myself up and move to a place where I don't know anyone and away from all my family and friends -- I'm seeing a theme here... dems leave theme...
: Eitherway, I shouldn't have to move cross country just to find a place where I can work and have a house or aford an apartment... This week we find out if we got a raise and for how much -- Needless to say, I'll be pacing in front of the mailbox.

I don't see how it's any different than not living in the "rich" part of town because you can't afford it.
If you can't swing it here, move to another part of "town" where it's cheaper to live.
And I'm sure that Bloomington is not the only place to go. I heard that land is still very cheap in the Dahlgren area.
