Whoever the new number 1 guy is, you can bet that the number 1 thing on his mind is how not to end up the same way the old number 1 guy did. Since the air of invulnerability has been destroyed I would guess the new guy is going to be a whole lot more restricted as to what he does and where he goes.

Whoever the new number 1 guy is I just hope he doesn't have a bunch of X's, Z's and Q's in his name so I can pronounce it correctly.

Does anyone but me find it fascinating that the Al Qaeda leader was killed...in Iraq? I mean, you know, considering Al Qaeda has nothing to do with Iraq and all.

Wonderful Pledge!

One of the reports I read had bereaved towelheads pledging thousands of al-Zarqawis...

Amen...We just will be glad to dispatch them the same way.
Send em....we'll kill em.
Maybe we should help out by printing applications for them to speed up the whole process! :lmao:

That kind of stuff always reminds me of the Saturday Night Live sketch from the first Gulf War where the reporters repeatedly ask questions like "when will the attack begin?" The last question is from an obviously Arabic man with a think accent who asks, "Where are your troops and may I count them?" :killingme

"What are some of the American Forces worst weaknesses, and how would the Iraqis effectively exploit them?"

The story is all over the news programs.

Fox News is running a segment - a military briefing from Bagdhad - by a US military officer, and a Washington Post reporter asked him:

"Can you tell us exactly who fingered Al-Zarqawi to the military folks, enabling us to kill him and his aides?"

Duh!!

Like they're going to expose the names of those involved in locating the guy!

Idiot!
I suspect maybe Jordan or a neighboring country did a deal with the U.S. to give up Zarqawi. This way insurgency will weaken, the U.S. has reason to leave and save face
by claiming success. The bush administration looks good, the republicans maintain congress in the fall elections, oil production increases, and the U.S. looks the other way in middle east affairs. I would look for troop reductions in 90 to 120 days and that Bin Laden(location given up by Pakistan) is killed in that time frame. This deal(Pakistan) will tip the scales in U.S. favoritism between India and Pakistan. I think this whole thing has been orchestra with the culmination of weeks/months/years of behind the scenes negotiation. This is hard for me to say being a Republican and all that, but politics is politics and money talks and bull**** walks.

Not really. Even the most rabid "al-Qaeda has NOTHING to do with Iraq!!" type will admit they're there, now - but - it's because the U.S. is there. They will claim that while they weren't there before, the war has drawn them to Iraq like a magnet. Everyone knew al-Zarqawi was in Iraq.

I mentioned this back when the bombings happened in Spain, when al-Qaeda was pressuring the Spanish to get out of Iraq. "But" I asked "aren't they 'enemies'? I thought they had nothing to do with one another? So how come they're making demands that troops leave Iraq?".

And that's the answer I got - yeah, well, they're there NOW.

So, no. Because the naysayers aren't surprised either.

...gives you a dramatic feel for how much 'needle in a haystack' applies hunting these guys. You GOTTA have intel.

So, I wonder;

If he was 'given' up, what does that mean?

Did an enemy rid himself of a rival?

Is someone seeing the writing on the wall?

Did he become the wrong persons enemy?

Guess we'll see in teh coming months.

Pulse checking over at DU...

..found some links to this;

http://www.strategypage.com/htmw/htmurph/articles/20060607.aspx

June 7, 2006: The relationship between terrorist leader Abu Musab al Zarqawi and and the mainline al Qaeda leadership continues to deteriorate.

Given that Zarqawi has become a loose cannon and that his actions are handicapping Al Qaeda's efforts, it seems reasonable to expect that an accident may befall him at some point in the near future. If handled right it can be made to look like he went out in a blaze of glory fighting American troops or that he was foully murdered. Either way, al Qaeda gets rid of a problem and gains another "martyr."

Seems reasonable to me.

And the really cool thing...

...is the DU is having a fascinating argument over whether or not Zaqarwi ever existed. Some over there insist he is a phsycological warfare creation to take our minds off of Bushs failures and that they've 'killed' this guy every so often whenever Bushie needed some good news.

Wow. We're gonna have to change tactics; they're catching on.

Ah, one more thing: did anyone else see...

the subliminal message some local news hound in Bagdhad included on the images depicting the scene of the destroyed safe house where Al-Zarqawi was killed at?

I think it was CBS that showed a segment of a young Iraqi lad, tossing a very tiny colorful t-shirt on the shattered earth remains of that house, with what looked to me like a teddy bear along side it.

I didn't hear any commentary on it, but were they suggesting something else?
