Alarm systems

If it continues when the weather warms up, I'll just take the top down, put a tiara on my head and do the parade wave. I give up.

I should have the girl make you some of those Kleenex carnations to put on it :lmao:

Go to CVS at lunch and try changing the battery in the remote key thing

It's got to be weather related. When it's cold, it happens, first thing in the a.m. I've locked it at work, unlocked it, done the same during the day at shopping centers. Alarm doesn't go off. And it happens with both remotes and one is rarely used. It's not battery related. The car is possesed.

Have her start working on the carnations.

Have hubby look for a short in the fuse box(sometimes they "hot wire" it to there) and/or where it's hooked up to the alarm itself(I know, I'm a girl and I'm not supposed to know this stuff....deal with it)

I'll go to the store tomorrow and get the tissues

:roflmao: Oh, the picture in my mind's eye. :killingme

Seriously, I wish I had some answers for you but I don't. It sounds like some sort of short in the electrical system, but I know how hard those are to track especially since it doesn't happen all the time. I hope you find out what it is before the coppers get you. :huggy:

 I wish we had someplace else besides Park Dodge to take it to. They'll just say ", dur, we couldn't find anything wrong with it." Kind of like my seatbelt alarm and the trunk not closing......

The more info you can supply the more help you will get back. What year is this Sebring and Is it a factory alarm or ad on? I have been working for Chrysler for 28 years and may be able to help you if you supply this info

2005 and a factory alarm.

Sounds as if you have a problem with the Body Control Module. It should be located near the fuse box (under dash - driver's side). The factory alarm power should be a lt. green/orange wire at pin 4 of the BCM connector. Cutting that wire should disable the alarm system permanently. Or you could get a new module if you want the feature functioning.

Thanks Ken, I was going to get a manual to point me in the right direction. Now I won't have to.

You might be able to score a used module at a junk yard. I did notice that AutoZone sells a universal alarm bypass module for about $30. That may be a better option then cutting wires.

Don't you think it should be replaced if possible under the warranty?

(Think resale)

I don't know if my "extended" warranty will cover that, nor if it's worth taking the time off to take it up the road and go get it...

It's a 2005. I bought it used in 2006 with 12,000 miles on it. It has 23,000 on it now and I assume it is a factory alarm.

Help! We can't disable it. The dealer here is stupid. I am tired of honking at people when I'm not honking at people. It only does it IN THE MORNING when it is cold.... so far.

Hey gal. this vehicle only has one arm/disarm switch for the alarm and it is located inside the drivers door mounted on the lock cylinder. if this switch is bad the alarm will not disarm when you use your keyfob or turn the key manually. The dealer has a scan tool that will see what this switch is doing .
So when you think you are disarming it and then open the door it goes off. the only way to disarm it is to start the engine.
You cant cut any wires to the horn because then you wont have a horn when you need it. There are no TSB's out for this problem .if you need more info try to e mail me, I dont like using these forums like this one

Crap, I don't know. It's the LONG honk when it first goes off, then sometimes the short honk after that, then sometimes the long honk after I drive a few houses and then sometimes a short honking, continuously on 235, but sometimes just a long honk on 235. I don't know WTF is wrong with it. It's just embarassing.

ok now this is really confusing, are you saying that the horn will sometimes just a long steady beep? without a pause and other times it will pause? if this is what you are saying it has NOTHING to do with your alarm. It is a shorted horn pad and the only fix is to replace the contacts on the steering wheel. That would be why the dealer cant fix it because they never had it happen to them and you keep telling them its an alarm problem when it isnt. they check the alram module for fault codes and find none.. if this is what you are saying post or email me the last of your serial numberand I can get you the part number for the steering wheel, Im in PA now and wont beback untill sunday
