Alarm systems

Thanks Ken, I was going to get a manual to point me in the right direction. Now I won't have to.

dont go cutting wires, thats just stupid. It isnt an alarm
thing thing anyhow. if the alarm was activated the engine would not start. This vehicle alarm will not allow the car to start. if you start cutting wires and unplugging things not only will it set a bunch of fault codes to really confuse someone when it comes time to really fix it but you will then have a no start problem. the next cold morning tap gently on the horn pad to see if the horn beeps, the 2 bimetalic strips that make the horn contact are getting shorted together when cold. Cold contracts!!!!

ok now this is really confusing, are you saying that the horn will sometimes just a long steady beep? without a pause and other times it will pause? if this is what you are saying it has NOTHING to do with your alarm. It is a shorted horn pad and the only fix is to replace the contacts on the steering wheel. That would be why the dealer cant fix it because they never had it happen to them and you keep telling them its an alarm problem when it isnt. they check the alram module for fault codes and find none.. if this is what you are saying post or email me the last of your serial numberand I can get you the part number for the steering wheel, Im in PA now and wont beback untill sunday

She hasn't had it to the dealer for this problem. I didn't think about just the horn contacts though, it would be worth a look.

I wasn't going to. I just wanted to know where the module was. I like to wiggle contacts etc.

This morning, no problem. I swear it has to do with the temperature. Seems to happen on the cold, dewey mornings only.

as i said, cold contracts metal, therefore when the cold weather sets in the horn contacts are shorted together. You can verify this yourself by just lightly tapping on the horn pad when it is cold and I bet the horn beeps, when it is hotter outside you will have to tap harder to get it to beep. If you ever have a question about this vehicle go to Autos - Auto forums, Car forums, Truck and Racing Discussion Forums and
post your question, you will get better answers to your problem. make you you post under the right group Chrysler/Dodge/or Chrysler Sebring

Isn't the horn wiring "hot" at all times and sounds when the contacts close? As described it happens after the alarm button is pushed which indicates a problem other than the horn pad or horn button which would cause the horn to sound at anytime the contact is closed.

It happens whether the alarm is set or not set. In either case the alarm should be disabled when the car is unlocked with the remote, once again when started with the key. Then, while driving a short distance, the horn starts blowing. It doesn't blow in short beeps, though, but various length beeps. I told her next time it does it to tap the horn button and see what happens. Next step, a priest and some holy water.:lmao:

There is no more horn ring on these vehicles.Clock springs are used now, a device with a tape wire in it. I would bet $100 bucks the horn pad/contacts are bad
