Alec Baldwin Wouldn't Be In Trouble Today if He Were a Conservative
But one thing that is clear is that Halyna Hutchins would be alive today if Alex Baldwin were politically conservative, and he wouldn’t have the legal problems he has now, which threaten his career and his life.
That’s the assessment of Mark Judge, a political writer and filmmaker in D.C., who, you may remember, was the focus of much controversy during the Brett Kavanaugh hearings. Judge quoted a passage from Baldwin’s 2017 memoir to explain.
“By the time I was ten, my political consciousness was nearly concretized,” Baldwin wrote. “I’m no different from people who are raised in a home that is for or anti any of the issues of the day: the NRA, immigration, gay marriage, abortion, or Obamacare. Politicization starts at home. My politics are my dad’s politics, based on the simple idea that, as the richest nation on Earth, America has a greater obligation to reach out and help those who have not realized even a modicum of what we take for granted here.”
Why is this important? Judge notes that “had Baldwin’s politics matured beyond a ten-year-old’s, the actor may not have found himself in the terrible trouble he is now in.”
well maybe if Baldiwn was a conservative, he would have held conservative beliefs on firearm's handling and respect when handed a weapon.

I have an 1873 replica by European American Arms, likewise very light trigger.
As you observe, the operator does have to activate it.
The truth is that if Alec Baldwin were a conservative he'd be constantly raked over the coals and denied employment, and if he made one wrong move (even if it was just in the deranged mind of some Tik Tok psycho) the press would be absolutely apoplectic with rage and demanding his head.
Ask Chris Pratt how that works.
And the funny thing is, he's the most personable celebrity I've seen in a while.
Usually they're all Uber-A$$holes.
He's married to a Kennedy/Schwarzenegger, though, so that makes me step back on him.
Probably just acting on a loss of brain blood.

Damn, I didn't realize he was already on his second marriage. And to a girl more than 10 years younger than him. He may not be as "conservative" as he portrays.
Dumping his wife and disabled son to hook up with a Kennedy is a bad look.

Part of the problem that started and put into motion this whole fiasco was his cocking of the hammer, making it a safety off weapon. Which made it an armed ready-to-fire weapon. Add in the possibility, and most likely event, that he had is finger on the trigger, or was pulling on the trigger, at the same time, set the stage for when the hammer was released to fire the round. Either way, he screwed up bigly playing cowboy with it when he was in the presence of others.
