I have grown increasingly frustrated with my job too. I am tired of working for lazy, do nothing people, who act as if the whole world is failing in, so you pitch in and help them only to seem them an hour later with their feet up on their desk chatting with co-workers or talking on the phone. I want a job that relies only on my ability to get my job done, not a job that punts everything to me because others cannot get off their lazy azzes and get their job done, if that makes sense. I have heard at least 1000 times in the past 3 years that this is being assigned to you to do because we know you’ll get it done. I didn’t go to college to be a pawn for a bunch of incompetent, lazy people who just don’t want to do their job. After the weekend, I come in and see my desk and mailbox piled high with stuff to be done and look at the 5 or 6 pieces of unimportant papers in my co-workers mailboxes.
Anyway, I’ve complained enough, so now I feel much better. Pixie, you can follow your dream, so do it. You don’t have a mortgage holding you down. You don’t want to settle for a job that makes you unhappy, because it will only get worse. You will always wish you found a way out. My anger with my job was the motivating force for me to go and get my B.S. degree and find another job, hopefully something that I’ll enjoy doing that gets me as far away from what I’m doing now.
