Ambien?

Does anyone have any experience using Ambien? My doctor prescribed it to me and I took it for the first time last night...5mg.

My kids were in bed and my husband was in class so I was alone... within 20 minutes I was hallucinating.:cds:

My husband came home an hour later and I was still all :jameo: "The British are coming!!! The British are coming!!!" :jameo:

I kept seeing people and animals that weren't there. My husband wanted to take me to the hospital but I was terrified to get into a car.

Has anyone else had an experience like this? wtfo

Never tried it. I am not a drug person in the first place, except for alcohol which just cuts right to the chase by being a poison.

However, I have heard all sorts of weird crap about Ambien and others. We are a drugged up nation.

I've hallucinated with plain over the counter sleeping pills. I couldn't imagine taking prescription strength. I don't like that feeling! I have found that melatonin helps if I really have trouble sleeping.

It was like blackout drinking for me. Apparently I was still up and functioning, but I had no memory. Thank god I didn't hurt anyone.

I also know people who have become addicted to it, so be careful. It's dangerous stuff.

I've taken Ambien before, and had no problem with it. Although, one night. I woke up in the Guest Room. Thank God we didn't have anyone over that night. That was the last time I ever took it. I've heard bad things about Melatonin too, but it could have been that the person wasn't taking it as directed.

I took Ambien about 7 years ago along with some other anti-anxiety drugs - thought it was great until I learned I drove to WAWA in my housecoat, in the middle of the night and had no memory of doing so... and even bought gum. It made me think that some of my mysterious bruises I had could have been from wondering around in the middle of the night and how truly dangerous it is to sleep drive. I'm just glad I didn't hurt anyone. We put alarms on our doors after that... which is fricken embarrassing.

When I was a child/teenager, I had problems with sleep walking, woke up outside in January once on the deck with a blanket... woke up in a shed... woke up in the barn... and at a slumber party, I must have gotten up in the middle of the night, walked upstairs and went to sleep on the hallway floor.

I'm over my anxiety... like way over ALL that and after I went off all the pills that did me no favors anyway, I started doing yoga and meditation CD's. I have the meditation CD's on my ipod and keep a faithful bedtime that doesn't include surfing the net.

Both of my parents took Ambien. It never affected my mother, but my father was a different story. He would get up in the middle of the night and cook. He never remembered any of it. He had 3 mva's while taking it, thank goodness he nor anyone else was hurt, but the last one he almost went over a guard rail and down a ravine. After the last accident my sister called his Dr. and begged him not to give my father another refill on the prescription. My father was pissed off, but oh well. He started taking an otc sleep aid and didnt have any other problems. This was approximately 8 -9 years ago.

Responded to a 911 call for a disoriented person, found a 40'ish female sitting in her car off the road out in the country. She had left her home in the city (40 miles away) to go to the local ice cream store 5 mins. from her home. We were able to contact her family; her husband and son came to pick her up. The only change in her medical history was she had recently started taking Ambien. She was properly dressed and compliant-no laws were broken; she was released to her family. She had no idea how she got to where she was.
