Another shopping center?

Oh great - that's fabulous. Really, that intersection could use more traffic flow! :duh:

What about all that empty land all around the Lowe's/Target shopping centers. Are they ever going to finish that? Why don't they finish that before they start another one??

We need a new movie theatre!
The land around Lowe's/Target is owned by the same company that owns the land Lowes is on. Thus they surely have a non-competition agreement w/ Lowes preventing them from putting in the HD in "all that empty land" that isn't large enough for a HD anyway.

Last I heard, that is where Home Depot (which I can't wait for) wants to go.

I thought that was going across from Wildewood, by Chaney with an office park behind it:confused:

And as for the new shopping center, I heard it will be anchored by a grocery store; won't that hurt the Wildewood McKay's business?

Are you talking about behind these stores? Isn't this where the First Colony residential section is going:confused:

Good question. I didn't know about the "residential section" plans. :ohwell:

I heard that a Movie theatre was possibly going there, or a Best Buy.

Maybe they should put in a tire center. That shopping center is very lacking in tire centers! :duh:

The movie theatre went bye-bye in lieu of the new pool on Great Mills Road. Kinda like a developer bait and switch thing.

It changes every other time they mention it in the news.

:yeahthat: I heard that there was a "study" that showed that the area couldn't support a new theater. They probably looked at how few people go to the one we have and thought that nobody would go to a new one. I guess they didn't realize that most people would rather drive a few hours to go to a real theater than go to that hellhole. :dork:

"Fill your hands you SOB!
That area between FC & KMart was supposed to be Ross, BestBuy, Old Navy & a PetCo.

The FC developer wanted to put a new movie house in FC, but couldn't draw any movie chains to build one here. The losers who did the study concluded that one theater here is enough and the area couldn't support two theaters so close to each other. Duh!!! If those number-crunchers only knew we wanted a new one to be built so the OLD ONE WOULD GO OUT OF BUSINESS & BE BULLDOZED!!! We don't want or need two theaters here - we want a replacement! So...the FC developers drew BJ's to build here and submitted the paperwork for the zoning use change. The idiot County Kommissioners told the developer he could ONLY build a movie theater as originally approved........unless the developer agreed to build a pool for the county in Great Mills...and then & only then would they approve the zoning change for the BJ's. Last time I checked, isn't that called extortion?????

The FC housing area is in the woods directly behind Target/Giant and at the 90 degree bend in the road.

What do you consider good?

I'd like to see TGI Friday's and an Olive Garden. Maybe not considered good to some... but something new and different.

Ruth's Chris Steakhouse would be awesome, but somehow I don't think that's going to happen!

We almost got lucky when they went bankrupt several years back.
