I am normally a pretty even tempered person but I am pissed! Just got an email from the MVA that my son's appointment to get his Learner's Permit has been canceled. This is the second time this has happened! I understood the first one because Covid19 had just started getting bad but why the one for this Friday??? Things are not bad down here and haven't been for a while.

At this point I might just tell my son that we are going to wait until this is over and then schedule an appointment. He was looking forward both times and will be so disappointed to find out it's not happening again.

Until November I think most people are just going to have to assume everything is closed.

Unless you want to go to Vegas and hang out in casinos - those are wide open and teeming with humanity.

You expect them to administer a test. Hell you can't even get them to collect dollars at their toll booths

My daughter, just made the appointment for my granddaughter to take her test. Its in October, she was told that the instructor will not be in the car at the time of the test, due to COVID-19. Instead, they will observe her doing the instructed moves outside of the vehicle. This is at the Loveville branch.

My granddaughter took her test at Loveville. Only three requested moves - (1) pull into the parking space going forward, (2) back into the parking space, and (3) perform a 3-point turn. That's it to get a license now.

Yep, that is what my daughter said. She did have to complete the assigned driving classes and online classes. That in itself was a nightmare, had been postponed several times due to the pandemic. She was finally able to finish it up last Monday and Tuesday.

I guess my frustration comes from them scheduling appointments not knowing whether they'd be open or not. Made another appointment for Sept 25th. Fingers crossed.

Took 3 canceled appointments but youngest finally got his Learner's Permit yesterday. Decided to make the appointment in Calvert instead of St Mary's and that seemed to be the difference.

I was ridden dirty for months - license expired but FINALLY got renewed in September.

A friend of mine took his son to Ocean City and said the trip was worth it with less wait times.

Youngest offspring is currently enrolled in Driver's Ed, via Zoom and twice a week for driving practice around the county. Upon completion of course, the DMV only requires the candidate (my child, Ray Charles) to park into an assigned area. No driving skills required!!!! Remember the days of Driver's Ed of old? With simulators and real instructors that don't give everyone a participation trophy??

Which county because I don't see any place in Calvert offering the actual driving part.
