Auto Glass Place

I need some help. The rear window of our car shattered and has a big hole in it. We think there was a shortage in the rear defroster. Anyway we only have liability on the car so the insurance won't pay for it. Where is the cheapest place for me to get it fixed? I will call around for some quotes but thought someone on here might be able to help.

Thanks

We always use Abell Auto Glass for our needs. He always comes to our house and does the installs in our driveway. Why don't you call for and estimate but also see if he'd come do the install if you found a junkyard rear window... it doesn't hurt to ask...

Now if you are wrong about what broke the window and it was actually a hammer that was dropped from your roof, your home owners insurance would pay for it.

Recheck your policy and make sure even though you only have liability that you don't have glass breakage as well.

Safelite does the repair at home, but I don't know about back glass. You could call and ask.

It's a shame those hoodlums in your neighborhood threw something through your glass because now your homeowners policy may have to cover that :jameo:

The Glassman just came and repaired my drivers side window and winshield while I was at work. He was very professional, timely, and did a fantastic job. Now on the way home from work today I will not have to dodge snow flurries. The Glassman also paid my deductible so I didn't have to come out of pocket at all. I am sure you have seen the can with the cartoon on the side driving around. Here is the website.

Yeah, I would bet that if they pay up to $75 in deductible, they would rack those charges onto the overall cost. I think I would do a bit more shopping first. Ask for a written quote cause it's hard to argue with a liar after the billing.

Nothing to see here
I have to replace my windshield and I have a $100 deductable. I do not mind if they pay the deductable and add it back into the cost of the windshield replacement cost that insurance will pay. I would rather not have to pay out of my pocket.

And you believe you are KingFish? Now I see why.

Perhaps that deductible is mandated for a reason? [whisper] maybe to weeds out the ripoffs? [/whisper]

I usued to go to Royal auto glass because it was local and they waived the duductable. When I looked to see if they would again, they will cover up to $50 bucks off deductable. That would mean I come up with the other 50.

For auto glass, all insurance companies pay based off of NAGS (National Auto Glass Specifications) list prices, which are much higher than what they charge the customers when they are paying out of their pocket. So, if they billed the insurance company for the windshield with deductble added, they would still be making at least what we would have if you paid out of pocket, even after they waived $100 off the bill. I see nothing wrong with it.
