I would love to hear any opinions about it too, I have thought about getting one as my a/c has gone out, and we are too cheap to fix it as we are just driving the van until it dies...

can someone tell me if this actually works.....i really need one.....so damn hot and humid out! :hot:
It's a little solar powered fan you stick in you window while your car is parked. It just circulates a small amount of air, might keep your interior close to the outside temp, instead of +30 degrees.
A fan will not lower the air temp.

I guess I'll go ahead and try it out since there's a 30 Day money back guarantee....just hope it doesn't take 6 - 8 weeks to deliver because summer will be pretty much over by then.

IMO it won't be worth the postage to send it back. It's worthless while the car is moving and it would take several of them to get a closed car down to outside temps while it is parked.

Wasn't this the 13 year old kids invention on American Inventor.. The engineer said, nope, not good enough now go home.

He presented it as a way you could keep your dogs in the car in the middle of the summer.

Do you have to leave your window cracked open to install this? I saw on the tv commercial that it looked like the girl had some adaptor thing on her window, is that included or do you just get the fan?

i think you do leave the window crack and seal it with a rubber attachment like when you seal your window AC unit.....
but what happens if it rains?

All right, well I will give yall a review of this Autocool thing. Some three or four years ago I purchased this item - but it was named something else at the time and had not made its way to an info-mercial.

So - does it work - well....yes and no. The unit came with a cord so it could be plugged into the cigarette lighter as well as having the solar plate so it could run on its own. I found that the fan ran faster when the unit was plugged in. The car didnt seem much cooler - ambient temp wise - and the unit did nothing to keep the seat or steering wheel from burning you. The down side was that the unit had a habit of draining my battery - big suprise right? The solar plate didnt seem to give the fan enough juice to run fast enough to move much air. Sure, I could stand outside the car and feel hot air being blown out but the air coming in was not being moved fast enough to lower the ambient temp much at all - MAYBE a degree or two.

I will be quite honest with everyone. If you are interested in this product - DONT buy it. Here is why. For the temp in your car to get down to where it is comfortable on those blistering hot days - you pratically need one of these units in each window - IMO

My suggestion - go to your local car dealer and order window guards. These are the plastic shield things which you affix around your windows and allow for you to crack your windows to allow air to circulate within. I think this is a FAR better and more effective means to cool down your car. Air can come and go from your cracked windows - and because the guards have a dark tint - no one will know that your windows are cracke dunless they look up under the guards.

For what its worth - there yall go!
