Anyone been to belize? Did you go to the cays or the jungle? Would you go again? I am day dreaming about warm weather.
it was one of our stops on a cruise 3 years ago. The only thing nice about it was the area the ship took us too. (ususal tourist stop) it is very poor, dirty and just not someplace I would go on vacation.hereforgood said:Anyone been to belize? Did you go to the cays or the jungle? Would you go again? Why would they want to d? It's a dirt poor country. no running water, no heat, cardboard homes (for real). There may be some better area's but I sure didn't see them when I was there.......morganj614 said:

Hello6 said:Sounds like a good place to be robbed and murdered or kidnapped and held for ransom.

If you're looking for a warm vacation Costa Rica would also be a good option.
Rain Forest treks, attractive mountains and volcanoes, hot springs, scuba diving, fishing, rain forst canopy tours, white water rafting. No native culture though since the Spanish completely wiped out what little Indian population there was. Costa Rica also has the most stable democracy in the Central America, possiblely all of Latin America.

Was in Honduras about the same time, both are very poor countries, but that means your dollar will buy a LOT of service and attention. Keep a pocket full of ones and always tip. They'll treat you like a millionair.Railroad said:I went there as a sailor, during the 1980s. A bunch of us painted an orphanage while we were there. I agree, poverty is a big problem there. I doubt that I'd want to go there on a vacation (but it's been 20 years since that trip).
