Well, there is that...

However, I would argue being a douche is punishable. And you do that stuff as a COLLEGE qb, not as an NFL qb.

Please don't tell me you don't think other NFL players do this exact same thing....the real problem here is Ben needs better friends to keep him from getting in these situations...

When we say 'do these things' we are talking about getting caught and becoming a big deal, yes? Ben the Douche hasn't mastered the 'below the radar' method.

So, he pays.

I will agree with that....but I just hate how quick people are to villify someone like they are a "black sheep" when this sort of behavior is not necessarily the minority. There wasn't this much of an outrage when Merriman was accused of beating the hell out of that crazy chick and she has bruises all over her....he's had numerous run ins with the law and has been previously suspended...but I digress.....

I agree..he's dumb he gets caught he pays...I think the punishment doesn't fit the crime and I think the commissoner has way too much power....

Look, Ben is being made example of. Roger is burning his ass to shut everyone up about racial bias and, AND Ben has plenty of Douche behavior to back this up. How many times you think Ben has been an a hole and we never heard about it? How many internal reports you suppose Roger has showing, though it can't be proven, Ben has misbehaved numerous times, incidents that sound pretty bad?

Ben, I gather, was just begging to get whacked. So, Roger obliged him.

Being a douche isn't a punishable offense.....banging college chicks in the bathroom is the reason you become a NFL QB:killingme

Banging drunk college girls in the bathroom may a goal of some but rape shouldn't be - and separating an extremely drunk girl from her friends that are openly trying to protect her and then cornering, having sex with her, and using your NFL status to put pressure on her because she is traumatized and seeking justice because she doesn't know the EXACT details of what happened - only that she was taken advantage in the most personal of way, so she drops the case - that's rape and, legally, he got away with it.

He got away with it because there is a really blurry line of personal responsibility/use of judgment when alcohol is involved and a lack of solid evidence that the girl said no.

But basically he has caused negative attention upon the NFL too many times. Getting rid of him may be the best thing that ever happened to the Steelers - and I hate to say that since I am not a Steelers fan but there is much more/better talent out there without all that Springer drama and he just opened up an opportunity for them to better their team.

Good riddance, Mr. Roethlisberger, may your example of douchebaggery and overindulgence serve as a lesson to others. Personal responsibility is a 24 hour a day nag, it doesn't go away just because you have a few drinks, money to burn, and noteworthy talent.

Just came across the wire...

He'll be suspended a minimum of four games and a maximum of six games. This is supposedly conditional where the six games may be reduced to four games if he "behaves".

4 games is the right amount. I think that's costing him around $2 Million, so he's certainly not being cut any slack.

lol, true because that would never happen!

Honestly, I don't understand what kind of girl WOULDN'T be traumatized when they realize they just did it with BRoth, no matter how drunk and possibly voluntary it may have been. Gross.

Ray Lewis and Marvin Harrison killed a guy. Nobody holds that against them.

Harrison didn't kill a guy. He wasn't even charged either. Big difference between Lewis and Harrison.

The guy who was shot actually got shot again a few weeks ago.

He's accused, so he's guilty. Right?

Philadelphia authorities keeping Marvin Harrison probe alive - ESPN

After Harrison retreated to his garage, Dixon got into his truck and backed up the street. The confrontation continued and an associate of Harrison's, Stanley McCray, told detectives that gunshots rang out in the middle of the argument.

"I called the cops," he said in a police interview obtained by "E:60." "After that I ducked." When asked who fired the gun, McCray replied, "I don't know, cause we was, I was up at the garage."

Dixon was shot in the hand. When "E:60" interviewed Dixon in February 2009, he identified Harrison as the shooter who wounded him. .

There appears to be a lot less murk and mud and past transgressions than with the Big Ben case. Details...details....

It's funny that this same guy was shot again recently.

Accusations are accusations. Charges are charges.

Wasn't Ray charged, and plea bargained down? Didn't someone die in that case? Ray was actually arrested for a murder, right? Am I mistaken?

Which is what I mentioned earlier. Harrison hasn't been charged.

It's not even close to equate Harrison and Ray.

Your very link suggests that Harrison is only a "person of interest" and that the police don't necessarily trust the accuser.

He also has a "history".

What's interesting was all the lurid details in the police report. It's out there for the public to see. Even a lot of Pitt fans want nothing to do with the guy.
