This bird was at our feeder at the end of this past summer. It's a Rose Breasted Grossbeak. It's not too common to see them around here.

I think I saw two of these yesterday near River's finch feeder thing swinging around ... it's a purple finch... I kept thinking they were weird looking robins  I hope they come back... every time yesterday I went to get my camera and go outside though they all kept flying away

We have a ton of those. The description I remember for them was "they look like they were dipped in raspberry jam."

They are all, save the one in your area, in my back yard waiting for BS Gal to come home and throw the peanuts out. When she does that it looks like a squadron of bombers coming back to the field from a mission!

That's ok... start tomorrow... I'm not sure it has to be consecutive three days back to back... one day would be fine in there  :huggy: If I were to do it right now, I'd probably count 2 pigeons here in DC... River I think is trying to count today for me.

I have a feeling with the folks partakingin this... we'll have a lot of fat and happy birds flying all over southern maryland  They probably feel like its a birdie Christmas or something. Hope lots of folks throw food out for them

We also have the wrens, sparrows (a/k/a McDonald Birds), Tufted Titmouse (my favorites) but no squirrels. We have hawks and a pair of eagles. When my son was younger, he used to thaw out chicken and toss it up in the corner of the yard (raw) for "his" hawks. We also have chickadees, crows, grackles and mourning doves.

We have NO squirrels. Can you believe that.

Chickadees..we have those too and the Tufted Titmouse (I just love those little guys). Sparrows (a/k/a McDonald Birds). We have the redtail hawks and a pair of eagles but I haven't been outside much too see them. When my son was younger, he used to steal the frozen chicken out of the fridge, defrost it, and lay it up in the corner of the yard for "his" hawks.

We also have the huge black chickens ..crows and lots of cardinals and grackles.

Havn't seen any hawks that I know of. Did see an owl a few months ago and got a pictuer of it. Guess I could list one Rhode Island Red chicken in my bird survey  I've seen about 20 squirls at Rivers house... I think they just hang out there to drive Bailey nuts  She tears up the house trying to get out when she sees them
