Black Friday Store Reports

I just got home from Toys R Us. Of course I am kicking myself because I see they have most of the same deals online...at least for the stuff I wanted. But I showed up at 8 am. It was very crowded but not crazy.

18 uniformed police in St. Mary's Wal-Mart. no problems I saw
5:15 the last of the Best Buy line was getting into the store.

I was at Best Buy at 2:00 AM.. Friggin rainy and cold and the people at the end of the line were standing in the open when I got there.. 10 feet from the Old Navy awning. I stepped under the awning and left a (OMG) gap in the line. Took about 10 minutes for the people, well one person, to realize what I was doing, and he scooted back under the awning too.

KUDO's to the Lexington Park VFD. Out in the rain and cold handing out freee coffee and doughnuts to the frigid morons out this morning.

NO Kudo's to Best Buy. No appliances in the store, so you had to go and order them in the back of the store. Their network was not prepared, not a good sign for the home of the "Geek Squad". I was second in line to get the washer and dryer pair in the store. The first couple got theirs and left, after an hour of trying to process my order and their register/ computer freezing up they finally just took down my information and moved everyone out. I wasn't getting TOO frustrated as they were waiting on me, but the people behind me were losing their sense of humor after about 30 minutes.

The brave hunter gatherer husband got his prey!

That was the only thing I wanted to get also. They had those behind the register and I had to wait in line. The line was like an hour long, then I would have been pissed if I waited and they told me they were out of it. So I'll spend the extra $30 and get it next week.

She's in line now. They still had them as of 10 minutes ago. If they still have them when she gets to the front of the line, want her to get one for you too?
Message received and transmitted to her. She is 4th in line at this point. Will let you know if she was sucessful (should only be another hour or so).

Exactly. I mean I did not save that much since I was buying toys but you can get some amazing deals on the big ticket stuff.
We bought just a new frontloader washer and dryer - no toys or electronics - and we saved more than half than if we had paid the original/full price.

Why anybody puts themselves through that kind of aggrevation to shop on Black Friday is beyond me.

Especially since Best Buy, some Walmart, and many other comparable specials could be found online today. Even Dell has Black Friday specials on some handheld and other electronics. Check out Amazon, etc...

Damn. They were out?
She got the just about the last one, and had to get blue. They are sold out at this point. I didn't know if you would want blue. Knowing WalMart and their track record of Black Friday Door Buster's, the DS's will be on sale for the same price again in 2 weeks.

If your looking for a PC, go to CyberpowerPC.com - they already beat most peoples prices for much better builds. They have some specials running today.

If you are looking for a PC and laptop, they have some nice bundles. Depending on your needs, you would probably have to add a few things to any of the bundles (or just buy separate). This bundle below ($999) would be nice. You could add open office and free spyware, etc... and have something for college kid plus home.

Don't forget to check through the list of customizations and click next on each page. There are often freebies that will match up to the systems that aren't pre-selected - you have to choose them. Such as this one below has free flight simulator. None come pre-loaded with Microsoft Office, so if you want that, you have to choose it.
