I was so incredibly tempted to drive solely in the left lane on the ride home last night. :lmao:

Question for all of the speed limit doing left lane drivers; If it is raining and you decide to do less than the speed limit due to what you feel is safe do you still drive in the left lane even though 10 cars are stacked up behind you?

Just to clear things up from my posts yesterday, I am not trying to dictate what lane anybody should drive in I am just trying to figure out the mentality of a person who intentionally blocks someone who is trying to get by them. Weather I am walking or driving if someone is behind me that wanted to get by I move out of the way, and for the record I spend more time in the right lane then passing people in the left.

No, I am not going to waste my time. You are already too convinced that you are so right.. nothing is going to matter. Only thing to fix you is some wall-to-wall counseling. lol. But I will hint, go back to my first post where I talk about "principle". Something you and cable sock just can't seem to grasp. I am done... just another thread of airheads arguing for the sake of talking to themselves, beating the keys and think... HA! I won! :smack:

Oh no. You throw out an ignoramous statement about the posted speed limit just being a suggested speed limit and then you walk away? Classic.

While that speed limit is a suggested speed limit from the highway engineers, it is still the posted speed limit which is a maximum by law.

As previously stated, I primarily do drive in the right lane. But, no the person should not have to move. If you want to drive faster, you can choose to do so in another lane.

If you feel safer traveling below the speed limit and someone is trying to maintain the posted speed limit, why would you prevent them from doing so by not moving aside?

The speed limit posted is the suggested limit. I think any common sense judge would agree. Judges aren't engineers or some geometric scientist. If it was the maximum allowed then we would have turmoil across the country. A brain is a terrible thing to waste. Or perhaps it's the character, not the smarts!

Are you talking here in the US? If a posted speed limit sign is white it is, by law, the speed LIMIT. A speed limit sign in yellow is a suggested safe speed.

I never said they had to move I am saying it is a courtesy thing. That’s what I don't understand, if I see there are stacks of cars behind me and there is a lane to the right of me that is filled with cars that are doing the same speed as me than I am going to make my way into that lane out of courtesy not obligation. And for the ones that say it is dangerous to change lanes they need to be re-tested for their drivers license.

So, lemme' get this straight.

Let's say we're driving on 235, and the posted speed limit is 45. You're doing 35 in the far left lane. You do not feel compelled to move right?

I don't think she's saying she'd prevent them from doing the speed limit. She just thinks that she should not have to move right...and she doesn't, therefor she won't.

Nope. However, I do because I do not want to be rear ended by someone that is riding my ass.

this is exactly like golf. There is no rule in golf that says you have to let faster players play through. many courses do have this rule, but others dont. HOWEVER the etiquette is that you get out of the way of people you are holding up.

And I am trying to figure out the mentality of people that feel the law has no meaning, except when YOU want to apply in your own good time. My being in the left lane has a purpose: to pass. I do it in MY own time, not yours. If I am in front of you that means the cosmos shifted in such a way that dictated that situation, and you’re just going to have to be patience and deal with the fact that some people drive slower than you; and their intent is not to ‘block’ you.

However, if you decide to be an ass and ride my bumper, flash you lights and flip out like a gorilla on steroids then I’m inclined to send you a message that where I am, that particular place on the road IS NOT YOURS and I do not have to adjust my driving to accommodate you.

To answer your question… Even if there were 1000 cars stacked up behind me, the universe dictated that I am in front – no fault of my own – and I will get out of the way when I feel safe to do so, and I will do it at a speed I feel safe to do so.

It would be one thing if she was going 45, but she was going 63 and the ticket was ignorant. She was impeding people from speeding, including the cop.

Around here, I've seen at least one County unit in a 'plain white wrapper' activate his lights and blip the siren to get through an intersection headed north, then turn his lights off.

At least you are willing to get out of the way...albeit probably to slow for others. Most a&&holes in MD just drive in the left lane like they are on their way to a Sunday morning sermon.....completely oblivious to what is going on around them!

We both have arguments here. I'm stating my point and you are stating yours.

Not really. I don't have a problem with someone in front of me doing the speed limit. Matter of fact, I did 45 all the way to work this morning because that's what the car in front of me was doing. I had not heartburn with it at all. I didn't ride their ass, wasn't compelled to pass, I just tooled along with him.

That said, regardless of what others do, I will be courteous when I can. It just makes everyone's day better.

The only thing I've ever had a problem with is someone tailgating. There is no reason to tailgate. If someone ride's my bumper, I play.

I'm not sure where you drive but I see very few slow drivers in the left lane. I see people flying up them like they're in a race to get somewhere.

I do not ride people bumper in fact if I was behind you, you would have no idea that I wanted to get around you except the 10 cars that are probably tailgating me. You also proved my point in your post by saying if you are in the left lane you are passing someone and there is nothing wrong with that. If you are going faster than the cars in the right lane than you should be in the left lane no matter what speed you are doing.
