My female cockatiel pulled a blood feather last night, only it didn't come all the way out so now I have to take her to the vet to get it taken care of. I lost a cockatiel to losing a blood feather before. She pulled it in the middle of the night and I found her the next morning in the bottom of the cage laying in a puddle of blood. It was the hardest thing I have ever had to deal with. If I had heard her struggling in the night with her night terror I would have known and she wouldn't have died.
Sanji, my new female, is in my bedroom for that very reason and now she has a new clutch of 6 eggs. I am hoping the male will sit the eggs while she's gone to the vet. Sorry for rattling on, but I am worried about her.
