You'll be glad to know then, jazz lady, part of the management team that runs that store will be moving to the California store. I have heard that they do a good job.
The way I see it, anything is better than the choices we have now .... Alice's Road Kill Cafe or IHOP where they need 2 security guards at night. Charlies Deli is a great place for breakfast but he is not open on weekends. I hope that Bob Evans does well.

Well I heard that they will also not be hiring anyone who worked at the friendly's here either. But I could be wrong. Just hear-say and you know how that works.

I've always enjoyed bob evans and look forward to it opening soon. I do think it will be packed all the time if it's run well. It seems all restaurants in this area are packed lunch through dinner time.

I just recently went to a cracker barrel and I just loved it. I love the gift shop out front that you could waste time in while you waited for your table. I loved the big rocking chairs out front that you could wait in too. It was just very homey. I enjoyed the food a lot too. The pecan pancakes were wonderful.

I too have a thing about my glass being full at all times while I'm eating. I hate having to scope my waitress out and flag her over. I have found though that is best to always get a glass of water with your drink that way it's less likely you'll run out.

I am the average tipper at 15%. On occasion I will tip 20% or more if the server is very good. I do think it is a hard job and I do appreciate when it's done well.

I would like to see an olive garden down this way. I love the atmosphere and the food not to mention the wine and fancy drinks.

Truthfully I don't think any restaurant would do poorly down here if it had good people.

Heck yes. I've been to a few of them - one in upstate NY(Saratoga area), and one over by Barboursville, Va. Also, we've been to the Bob Evans in Pr. Fred.
a bunch of times and never had one complaint.

If it was the Cracker Barrel in Clifton Park NY (near Saratoga) - I've been to that one many times myself since I grew up just a few miles away. I'll probably hit it again next month when I go to upstate NY for Xmas.

Clifton Park Cracker Barrel

 Well isn't that just special! yardsalequeen, my mom live up there in Clifton Park, directly behind a golf driving range on the east side of RTE 9! There's also a florist nearby where I have flowers sent to her, you know: x-mas, Easter, birthday, etc.
That was my 1st venture into a Cracker Barrel, and liked it alot. Good food and lots of it.

I bet then its Grogans Flowers. That place has been around a long time (ever since I was a kid at least). My parents house is about 3 mi East of the Route 9 & 146 intersection so I know the area well.

 Ok, here's another one for you: If
you drive back down on RTE 9, going towards Albany, you'll come to the river(Mohawk?), and a bridge that spans it. I think there's a Stewarts Ice Cream place there on the left; Take a right just before the bridge, and travel about 2 - 3 miles, staying to the left, following the river, and there you will find a German Restaurant, Geez, my mind just went blank! might be called Krauses, but I'm not sure. Really great food, you can eat outside under an ivied terrace; used to get raw clams there and cold draft beer! Dynamite German Sandwiches on German Rye or Pumpernickel bread. Wow! See if you can remember.
BTW, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

yes, you got it right. Krause's Clambake. I'm not into clams so its not a place I think to go. I'd rather now go to Cracker Barrel! LOL. But I do miss a good Italian pizza - the square kind (ugg - not like Ledo's) that you order the size by the saying "cut" rather than say large or medium. Ex. I want to order a 24 cut pizza....

Geez! How far back in years are you going? There
is/was(?) a Pizza shop across from a tavern named Snyder's, also on RTE 9 in Clifton Park, and we used to order pizza to go there. But I don't recall how it was sliced, or if we just ordered sm, med, or lg. We almost always specified pepperoni, sausage and mushrooms, and maybe black olives, HAH! Now I'm going back some!

You're thinking of Clifton Park Pizza (what a creative name - ha!)
I moved out of the area in 1989 (having lived there all my life) and go back at least twice a year for visits. Getting ready to go up for Christmas. Southwest has cheap flights into Albany from BWI now (but I'll be driving this time so I'll have my car).
