Buying another bike...

I gave up on being anti any bike. It's not the bikes fault posers like em'. Besides I actually met a few real riders (note I said rider not biker) who ride Harleys, so I'm changing my ways. I still wont buy one, too expensive for me. Besides Harleys look funny held together with duck tape and bailing wire!:lmao:

Where have you been, my friend?

It looks like they airbrushed out most of the front disk brake in that pic

Shouldn't be hard to get a different rear fender, Harley's seem to be modular mix-n-match on most parts.

... and a can of flat black Rustoleum should match the paint :yay:

My last 2 Harleys never made it past the primer gray stage. Both of them project bikes, and I probably spend more in then-year dollars than buying a ready made bike. I'm not saying that I'm old, but back then, a custom bike was one that you painted, bolted stuff on, or paid somebody to do for you. Aftermarket parts were pretty much limited to S&S and Custom Chrome.

Well since I was unemployed I tried to stay away from things that I could get carried away on. I needed to try and focus on doing what I needed to do to keep the bills paid and find gainful employment. Now I start a new job on Monday and have a second evening job in the works I figured I could afford to put some time into less practical activities.

Hope all is well with you BSGal, :huggy:

We're doing great! I was thinking about you yesterday and was going to PM bcp and ask if you were all right! Good news on the jobs! :huggy:

I may be looking at a 2007 RK classic tomorrow.

Nice bike, I loved mine. Only things I wasn't fond of were spoked wheels and the saddlebag latches. Cleaning spokes sucks and the saddlebags have plastic clips under the buckles that are not the quickest way to get them open/closed.

Things to think about, for sure.

Neither is a deal breaker really. The plastic clips don't break but it always aggravated me because I commute and ride mine a lot and use the bags. Seemed like I was always clipping and unclipping. Also there are 2 of them per side to double the aggravation

The spokes are not chromed they are coated with something like zinc or something and get dirty much quicker. When I bought my Ultra I was NOT going to get spoked wheels. I like the cast much better.

Is it a private sale or dealer?

Beware. If he buys it, I'm moving up to his.

A bike is a bike. You can ride it.

I've ridden it once before and it's pretty much the same as mine, with more power. I like it better than mine, particularly the handlebars. I'm just not wild about the color.

:yeahthat: spokes, while pretty, totally suck when it's cleaning day. First bike I owned in HI had Aluminum spokes. Lived on the north shore and I could start shining the spokes and by the time I got around the wheel , I could see the tarnish returning.

The VStrom has black painted cast wheels :yay:

I rode it today. Will be riding it a lot more often in the near future.:yahoo: I couldn't hear the gear noise I've heard about in 5th etc. See what you mean about when your idling though. Pretty bumpy. Smooths out nicely though.

Question for the Harley riders...

I was told yesterday, that if I want to go out for 2-3 hour rides on the weekends, I should go with the softail family instead of the Dyna... Apparently the softail family is just a much more comfortable ride for both driver and passenger...

Anyone rode both styles have any input?

Basically... :lmao:

But there are a few Softails I like, I wish I could mix and match them

But I really do like teh Wide Glide... But as said a few ago, I was told anything over an hour ride would be "easier" on a softail than a Dyna....

Aftermarket seats can transform any bike.
The stock seat on mine was good for a couple of hours but a Corbin made it all day comfortable.

Make the rounds.. go test ride a BUNCH of bikes.. all makes and models. Just like a car, why buy without a test ride?

I'm thinking I'd like to take the new Connie 14 for a spin see how it feels. It's a sweet looking bike MADE for long rides.

I have about 10 or so people that have told me I could ride theirs to see how I like it, so I think I'll just start taking them all up on those offers :yay:
