Bye Bye IHOP

Stopped by IHOP tonight with a friend about 10:00 and they were closing up. They had a big list of various foods they were out of, still had eggs but not much else.
They'll be closed tomorrow and Sunday, but are supposed to re-open Monday under new ownership.

Shouldn't you be saying good riddance? I remember what IHOP was 25 years ago, and that was worthwhile. I never go to the local one because it is just crap. May be they'll bring in a cracker barrel?

A 'Cracker Barrel'? From your lips to God's spatula!

After all the pain of bad Indian food and bad Thai food and a bad Irish pub...

Cracker Barrel is a reliable and good 'Southern' restaurant.

But at this point I am wondering why the Park doesn't even deserve a 'Waffle House'. Pork Chops 'n' Eggs for only 7 bucks. Carb friendly as long as you don't cast eyes on the hash browns.

Who cares what it is. I just liked having a place I could go to after 10pm where I could eat, smoke and get together with some friends.

Besides, a resturant that gives you the runs won't make you fat

What happened to the old owner?

I hope not I know him. Besides he knew better then to eat there.

Well I for one am glad it didn't close for good. I don't know what I will do if I couldnt get my Colorado omlet if need be from the one in the Park which I have only gone to once, it was such a long freaking wait.

Then they brought my accompanyer someone else's food and I really still am concerned if they gave that person the same plate even though we didn't touch it just knowing that your food was in front of someone else's is just unsanitary. But, that may just be me.

Last time I was at IHOP was 15 or so yrs ago. I was sitting at the table with my 2 little ones when I spied a 4th guest crawling up the wall right next to us. We left immedialtly and have never been back. Just couldn't get past that memory - I know most food establishments have problems with unwanted guests - but having seen it with my own eyeballs killed IHOP for me. Even on the road we'll only stop there if it is our last resort. I think because St. Marys, especially the southern part is so geographically limited we don't get the Waffle Houses or the Cracker Barrels. They are typically found near interstates such as I-81 and I-95.

I haven't eaten at IHOP in years. Last time I was there, it looked as if someone had given themselves a haircut in my meal. :barf: I was eating and looked down to see a pile of hair....I almost threw up on the table. :barf:

I enjoy IHOP because you know what you're getting into :lmao: - A place to go where you can smoke, have endless coffee, if you need it, know you'll be tormented by screaming kids and standards that haven't caught up to the millenium... With that said, it's usually cheap and fast and a kick in the pants and serves a purpose. It's a dinosaur, for sure!

No wonder there was a pile of hair in Shutterbug's meal. :twitch:

I've eaten there twice in the last year or so for work functions. I can't say I'd go back on my own as I've gotten sick after both meals. The lack of cleanliness in the dining area makes me wonder how bad it is back in the kitchen.

OMG...

Well as I am told, if you want to know what standards a restaurant holds check the bathroom. Says a lot, also check the condition of the people who work there. If management allows a grungy person to represent the establishment then they probably are not caring so much about the rest of the place.

I have eaten at IHOP a good amount of times and my only complaint is the food gets cold too quickly. But I do know that many food places do have problems with bugs and mice, in addition to tainted food. It's all a risk.

Got burned by the closed IHOP Saturday.
I never had a problem there and i used to drink beer with the manager at lunch. I loves me some Dennys though.
