I could be way off base.....but these fires have been going on for as long as I can remember and I would think that "they" would have better systems in place for fighting them.
And before you ask.... NO I don't know the answer. It was just a thought.

If they were able to get aircraft in the air, Id bet they would have most of these under some sort of better control

My family is out of Escondido. :yahoo:

Their house seems to be fine at this point, but that doesn't even matter.

The Harris fire is right on the border. It's expected to head west, and may not stop until it gets to the ocean. There are tens of thousands homes in the path. This is huge, but it might even be worse.

Tijuana might also be in the path. They don't have anywhere near the response capability that San Diego does. This could burn the whole city.

Between San Diego and Tijuana, there could be a million homeless by the end of the week.

My brother called me today (he lives in Clairmont...San Diego) and said the air is so bad that you cannot breathe. The air outside is so bad, you have to close all your windows because the smell and ash are so bad. I also have a friend in Solana Beach.......they are leaving town as I write this.

Prayers to all in San Diego.

Right-wing blowhard's comment on the California tragedy.

On his radio show today, Glenn Beck said: "I think there is a handful of people who hate America. Unfortunately for them, a lot of them are losing their homes in a forest fire today."

A quarter of a million people have been ordered to evacuate their homes and its not over yet. For this fat mouthed loon to find pleasure in the loss and devastation is beyond belief.

Yeah, it's pretty crazy down here. The Military is setting up all kinds of shelters for dependant families to stay.
My sister's husband is a U.S. Marine. :patriot: He's been on the frontlines since Sunday morning PST.

They should make some progress today, but only 8% contained so far.

One more thing...

... I really want to thank MSNBC and FOX News Channel. While Rick Sanchez, Wolf Blitzer, Larry King and Anderson Cooper all had live coverage of the inferno, MSNBC had Hillary, politics, Olbermann #####ing about Bush, and crime stories with only 1 mention of the inferno in 6 hours of coverage. FOX wasn't any better with taped editions of O'Reilly and H&C.

I'm sure Kid Rock chipping his tooth in a bar fight was so much more important than the CA inferno.

The harris fire is 1 mile away from my parents house.:bawl: Dad is heading back to work since he is critical essential personnel. Mom is packing the last bit of stuff in the car. I told my brother to not forget the Xbox360 and halo3. (sorry a little humor in light of this terrible situation)

Let the XBOX 360 burn, and then go get a Wii!

Don't forget ESPN, they aren't showing news either. And Disney channel didn't break away to cover it. HBO didn't stop showing movies. The TV guide channel was only showing the TV schedule. Can you believe it? What is wrong with those people????

Seriously, Andy, if you want live news, why do you turn on channels that don't have live news then get upset over it? Here's a quick easy solution: when you want live news, turn on a channel that has live news. Problem solved! You're welcome.
