I should know this but I dont, and I haven't heard it mentioned yet, should the Caps win round one, which winner from the 3 playoff series would the Caps play in round 2. Im thinking it will be Philly when they beat the Devils, for the fact I think they were a 7th seed.

I've been wondering how they determine the matchups for round 2 myself. I looked everywhere for a bracket just showing "this winner plays that winner" type of thing but couldn't find it. Is it still highest vs. lowest seed from regular season, then next highest vs. next lowest of the teams remaining or do they get mixed up? I never really paid attention to it before.

Nevermind. I found it HERE

The first round of the playoffs, or Conference Quarterfinals, consists of four match-ups in each conference, based on the seedings (# 1 vs. # 8, # 2 vs. # 7, # 3 vs. # 6, and # 4 vs. # 5). In the second round, or Conference Semifinals, the top remaining conference seed plays against the lowest remaining seed, and the other two remaining conference teams pair off (unlike the NBA, for example, where the 1–8 winner always plays the 4–5 winner, regardless of who wins). In the third round, the Conference Finals, the two remaining teams in each conference play each other, with the conference champions proceeding to the Stanley Cup Final.

For the first three rounds, the higher-seeded team has home-ice advantage (regardless of point record). In the Stanley Cup Final, it goes to the team with the better regular season record. The team with home-ice advantage hosts Games 1, 2, 5 and 7, while the opponent hosts Games 3, 4 and 6 (Games 5–7 are played "if necessary").

Yes Philly...High seed plays the lowest seed in the playoffs. Two of Philly's best offensive players got hurt last night in the beatdown against NJ. Gagne and Carter.

(Boudreau) has great players.

Glen Hanlon had those same players in dead last place in the NHL before he was fired. Once Boudreau was brought in, they became the first team in NHL history to make the playoffs after being in last place in the league at Thanksgiving. I think that shows that Boudreau has just a little something to do with the Caps run of success over the last two and a half years.

Bruce is doing well, I think, because he doesn't pull any punches; me coach, you player. I made a dumb move. Or you played like crap.

No big deal. It just seems like a team where everyone is rowing in the same direction and no one bothers with their feelings or ego.
